Misery Loves Co. Varsity, Wolverhampton, UK, 1998. After seeing them the year before supporting Machine Head, I went out and bought the latest CD from this grungy industrial band. Then clearly I enjoyed it as here I am seeing this Swedish lot again as they headlined a much smaller venue. No idea who supported them! Steph Baker and others, Wolverhampton, UK, 2001. On this day 21 years ago I went to see a friend play an acoustic set. If I remember rightly, it was a regular night, and felt very DIY with a teenager on the landing where the stairs turned, with a chair and a cash box and sometime handwritten tickets on this template. It's one of at least five times I've been to The Varsity for a gig (not including the three times I played there). The place saw some great names come through (more on those I went to as they come up!). It's a university building now... Anyway, Steph did a good show. I remember her playing 'Blackstar' by Radiohead alongside some of her own songs.
