i deeply appreciate your enablement, and i've actually answered this before, but i'll reiterate here for this year specifically:
18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
considering i only really wrote extensively for two characters and some short sequence others, i have to say rock lee. what i said last time absolutely is still why, so i'll drop that here:
shippuden and bort really did less than nothing in terms of character development and what voice we have that actually seems rounded and developed is almost exclusively a character at like 8-14 years old, and writing someone who is an adult in my fics when you don’t have much “adult” voice to go on is hard — i’ve never felt like someone as a preteen is the same as an adult, but the question becomes how to write that in a way that fits the base personality but reflects emotional development/change that we never really seem to get with him.
this is especially difficult for me when i try to write him in the context of adult scenes winkwonk, because i have a hard time trying to convey what i think he'd be thinking in the moment, lollll. if you look at my fics, all my genuine in-the-moment smutty time writing is gaara pov. i tried to explore lee's pov a bit in fight club in ch 4 and 8, but those were probably my first forays into it. my next explicit fic is also entirely gaara pov, but i'm planning a longfic with multiple winkwonk times and that's bulk lee pov, so i Will get gud or die trying, lmao
