Page 1. ---- PEMBROKE March 24— Department of Game and Fisheries experts have ruled that the pelt recently sent to Toronto is that of a wolf and not a dog as some local experts believed. Disappearance of a police dog here at the same time the pelt was turned into the county treasurer for bounty payment led the latter to ask Toronto for a decision. Still unsatisfied, some Pembroke police dog owners are keeping a close watch on their pets.

Exactly! If the owners are not able to rehome the wolf/wolfdog, they will likely have no other option than to put it down. Inexperienced owners also might ruin the wolf/wolfdog to the point where it doesn’t function anymore and can’t be rehomed even if there were possible homes/sanctuaries.

Hey I wanted to ask if you needed some type of education or license to own a wolf and raise it from pup to full grown because I want to raise a wolf when I'm 20 and I would like to have some information about that before I get one
It all depends on where you live. In Norway it is illegal to own wolves and even wolfdogs (except saarloos wolfdog). In the US it depends on which state you live in. I am not sure about licenses, but there definitely should be. Maybe any of my followers know?
People I’ve talked with that has experience with wolves/wolfdogs typically says that if you want a wolf/wolfdog start with high drive dogs (huskies) > low content wolfdogs > mid content > high content > wolf. You need TONS of experience to succesfully own a wolf/wolfdog. Maybe work at a sanctuary or something.
Also, understand this: wolves are not, and NEVER will be, your pet as we define pets. They are not dogs and they will not act like one no matter what you do.
I really hope you realise what owning a wolf means, both for your and mostly the wolf’s sake. There’s a lot of wolves that end up in sanctuaries, or live miserable lives because their owners didn’t realise that even though you raise a wolf like a dog it will never ever become a dog, just like a tiger do not become a domestic cat.

Please please please read in my FAQ here on why not to take a wolf as a pet. Also, you can read there why wolf dog hybrids are a bad idea as well. I hope I really can change your mind :)
