The alpha man does not bite. He is kind of nice but Derek does not like him. He leaves and comes too much. Doesnât stay with the pack. A good alpha stays with the pack. Derekâs last alpha was mama. Mama was a good alpha. She did not leave Derek in the small forest with the big walls. He misses her.Â
Alpha man approaches from the hole that swings closed. It does not always move, just for the alpha man. Derek has tried to use the hole to get out. It didnât move no matter how hard he tried.Â
âHey there...â Alpha man says. Derek huffs in annoyance but drops his head anyways. Bad alpha or not, alpha man brings Derek food. There is nothing to hunt in the little forest. Derek has looked but there are nothing but bugs and little fish in the pond that are strange. They tried to nibble between his toes.Â
Derek did not like the little fishes in the pond.Â
Alpha man sighs, Derek wonders why but doesnât dwell on it. He watches alpha man come closer. He lets him know when heâs gotten too close.Â
He might let alpha man stay alpha, but he does not want him to be close. He does not want to share scents with the strange alpha man who comes and goes through the hole in the walls that trap Derek in the little forest.Â
âEasy... if you want to shift back, its okay. We wont hurt you.â
No. no Derek does not want to. His other half is too soft and squishy. His other half is breakable and hurt. Derek will protect his other half. He needs his sleep after the plant-smelling-man with his shiny biter machine. His other half was very tired. Dereksoftandbroken was okay though, he was just resting inside the wolf.
Dereksharpteeth could handle this strange alpha man just fine. As long as alpha man understood that Derek didnât want a pack. He would stay here until he was healed, and then he had to trust that the alpha man would let him out.Â
Alpha man tries for a little longer but to no avail. Derek does not want to play today.Â
âI canât see whatâs wrong if you wonât let me close.â Alpha man sighs when heâs given a second warning that Derek does not want to play today.Â
âScott, I just got some new info from deaton.â A voice says. Derek perks up, how did someone sneak up on him? Where are they?Â
âWoah there-â Alpha man shows a shiny box to Derek. Thereâs a face on it. âItâs just Stiles. No need to go on full alert.â This... Stiles creature tilts itâs head from where itâs picture sits inside the box.Â
âHey... youâre not so scary huh? I bet youâd let Scotty here look at you. Wonât cha?â
âHeâs not just some dog, Stiles. Heâs a werewolf.â
âOne whoâs been shifted for over a week. Yeah. I know. Did you forget I brought him in?â The wolf likes this man better, even though he is much smaller than alpha man, he challenges the alpha fiercely. He moves a bit closer to investigate the shining box.
âYeah, by the way. Still not happy about that. Youâre lucky he wasnât feral.â
The Stiles has words that bite and Derek realizes this must be one of alpha manâs pack. Itâs a shame. He likes the betaâs voice. His sharp words would be good for biting bad plant-smelling-men. The box makes a sound and the beta disappears from the box.Â
Derek doesnât see why a beta would be inside a box. How does it hunt if itâs trapped in there? Is the alpha man keeping his beta in a box like Derek?Â
Is the little forest with the big walls and the broken hole that only opens and closes for alpha man also a tiny box like that? He snorts out a sound of displeasure at the alpha. That is not good alpha behavior. Mama would be a lot better at this.Â
His heart aches for mama and his pack. Long gone in a cloud of smoke that still filled Derekâs lungs. The moment passes though. Because unlike dereksoftandbroken, he is strong and tough. Heâs not a pup anymore, and the past stays where it is.Â
âDo you like talking to Stiles? Yâknow, if you changed back Iâm sure heâd love to come say hi.â The alpha man is closer now. Heâs snuck up on him while Derek was investigating the box where the beta lives. It smells like alpha man, and lightening.Â
He hopes the beta is okay. The wolf knows too well what lightening can do.Â
âEasy...â Alpha man soothes his hackles but Derek turns to snap at him. Alphaâs eyes glow at him with a warning growl.Â
Oh he shouldnât have done that.Â
Derek does not want alpha man to think heâs challenging him, so he bares his throat but heâs not very happy about it either. If he were not still healing, itâs tempting to fight the alpha man, because the wolf doesnât fancy his cage at all.Â
âJeez. Look man, we know you were probably attacked by something but if you donât let me just see what your injuries are, you could just make them worse- youâre not listening are you?â Derek pauses from the curious grasshopper that had been hopping around his nose when the alpha man makes an annoyed growl.Â
He growls in kind, if only to show heâs not intimidated by this cub. Derek wonders why the alpha is so young. He has a vague memory of another young alpha that smelled like home. That too, is gone in a haze of memories the wolf hides from. He hides from them because they belong to dereksoftandbreakable and those are always things best kept in the dark.Â
The alpha man stays for a while longer, watching him closely in a way that makes him want to curl away in his den. He has a makeshift one, over in the far corner away from where heâs sat with the alpha man. He canât leave this cub alone in his territory, borrowed as it may. He just couldnât.Â
âAre you seriously just going to stare at him? How is that supposed to get him to let you close?â The voice comes from the heavens this time. It startles the wolf and heâs on his feet in seconds.Â
âJesu- Stiles! I was getting somewhere! Now heâs all red alert again!â
â...Sorry..â The bashful tone is sheepish at best, a vocal way of baring the owners throat. Derek chuffs as he runs a perimeter trying to find the intruder. Surely the skies did not have voices, if they did why had they waited so long to talk to Derek?
âWho even let you on the mic?â The alpha man starts moving, but Derek growls deeply at him in warning. He hasnât found the intruder yet, this man canât leave yet! He might have some kind of plan involving sneaky voices and hiding in the brushes of the small forest.Â
âDanny was on break. Wow, youâre not kidding heâs jumpy as hell.â
âNo kidding. Just- Shut up already!â The alpha is angry at his betaâs voice. Derek thinks it sounds familiar but there are no new smells on the stuffy air. The alpha smells of anxiety though, and he watches the man closely. Heâs hiding something, surely. Where is that second voice?
Does this alpha cub really wish to trap Derek again? Heâs already in the small forest box. Soon will the alpha man shove him into a small shining box like the Stiles from before?Â
Derekâs already an omega, he doesnât want to be squished into a shiny box too!
âEasy. No oneâs here but you and me, alright? Thatâs just my stupid friend who is supposed to be in the tech lab. Remember? From my phone?â
The alpha man waves the shiny box again. It seems a little careless for the beta inside, Derek growls louder. An alpha should not wave their betas around in boxes!Â
âI donât think thatâs working, Scott. Just come out and feed this guy so we can get out of here. Itâs already passed 9:30!â The intruding voice comes back. Where is it coming from?! Still, there are no scents on the air, and no heartbeats inside his little forest except for the alpha.Â
âStiles, I swear to god. Shut up before you give the thing a heart attack!â
âLook Iâll just open the doors and-â
âWait donât!â The alpha yells but Derek can hear the signature sound the hole makes when the alpha goes through it. Freedom is calling his name.Â
Injuries would heal whether he ran or waited in the small forest where this strange alpha man came and went. Heâs out the doors and in a startling bright corridor as the echoes of a howl call after him.Â
No. No he doesnât want to stay in the box. He does not like being trapped.Â
Bad smelling plants and lightening come with being trapped. Men with sticks that bite and words that hurt more than teeth. They strapped his soft and breakable body down-Â
The wolf gnashes itâs teeth and slips through another hole in the wall when a flustered woman opens it. He doesnât look back as she squawks much like the crows of his old territory. Derek craves for his forest where it is not closed off by walls and alphas who leave too much.Â
âAttention all staff this is a code yellow on in the southern Lupus wing.â This voice also comes from the heavens. Derek doesnât care for the words it tells him, theyâre too alien and metallic for him to care. Voices and heartbeats are all around him. Itâs too much to think of anything but escape.Â
Must get out. Must get free. Must hide. Run. Run away Derek! Get out of here! Theyâll kill you! Please Der- The wolf does not recognize the woman that the memory shows him. But the feeling is familiar, running desperately on his four legs, paws aching as the unnaturally hard white ground beats against his feet. There is no dirt and grass to sink his claws into here.Â
Thatâs okay. He has experience in escaping.Â
The wolf tries to ignore how his hind leg twinges still. How his belly churns at the excessive running. The hallway is ending soon, there are no more doors open for him to slide through. The footsteps are getting closer, the alpha howls to him rudely.Â
âcome back right nowâ It calls, as if Derek were some cub of his pack. As if.Â
