Something Awesome Update
The main aim of this project was to be able to copy files over discreetly. Now that that copying process is completed, I’ve begun researching for a way to do so discreetly. This site explains how you can make a batch file invisible while it is processing.
First we create a file, lets name it invis.vbs and insert the following into the plain text editor.
CreateObject("Wscript.Shell").Run """" & WScript.Arguments(0) & """", 0, False
VBS files are contain Visual Basic programming language developed by Microsoft and are encoded in plain text format. It can be open and executed by Windows and are used for users to control aspects of their programming environment. In this code, we make use of Windows Script Host as it can provide an environment and scripting abilities to execute scripts of different languages and create a variety of objects to perform tasks. It can be used to run VBScript commands, where the VBScript function CreateObject is used to instantiate an object outside the VBScript runtime. An instance of the windows shell is created which allows us to run commands. The .Run command starts a new window process by taking in the WScriptShell object and three arguments. The first argument takes in the command to be executed, the second argument indicates the appearance of the windows appearance (which is hiding the window) and the third argument returns immediately after starting the program and returns without any error codes.
Next we create another file to execute both the invis.vbs file and our previous file we’ve made for copying (which I shall refer to as copy.bat). Insert the following lines and save as start.bat (or whatever u want to name your file).
wscript.exe invis.vbs copy.bat
wscript.exe executes the VBScript file where invis.vbs runs copy.bat as mentioned above with the CreateObject command.
I can now execute the files discreetly by double clicking on ‘start.bat’, where it loads the files invis.vbs and copy.bat so that copy.bat can execute without bringing up the command prompt. I plan on testing this on my other home computers as well as my friend’s computer to eliminate all variables and confirm the success of file transfers in a discreet manner.
Tutorial Case Study
Teamed with the Director-General for the Australian Signals Directorate, we have considered the main threats against the cyber domain war and have produced 10 recommendations for actions to be taken.
Recommendations:
get a hold of the CIA system and get control over satellites for spying purposes. This allows us to immediately retaliate and stay one step above other countries
create malicious viruses and inject them to foreign countries to gain information
hack into telecommunication systems to gain intelligence and manipulative strategies
attacks to destroy important data
have backup energy sources in the case of power shut down from foreign attacks
attack foreign countries’ main power distribution centres, leaving them vulnerable and powerless
attack transport systems to increase chaos and lessen efficiency/productivity
increase physical and online defence to prevent malicious software attacks as well as physical attacks operated online
create an army of cyber intelligent people, educating people how to defend against online attacks and how to attack online
educate the public on basic cyber protection from everyday use such as mobile phones, laptops and pcs
Threat Modelling
For NSW Transport, the biggest threat lies against a power outage. If there happens to be an attack to the power system, the online transport system would be useless. Trains will not be able to run as it relies on the online system to move. Buses would be a mess and would take hours to reroute and recruit more workers to help inform travellers of new timetables. Constant power outages will have a threat to the company’s reputation as it would always cause delays a threat to the business as it would be losing millions of dollars every day from not being able to provide travel services ad well as costs to system repairs and such, and a threat to physical assets as power outages will cause breakages to transport vehicles and robbery. To protect against power outages, I propose we upgrade out current security system to stop against malicious system attacks and reinforce more physical security against main power sources.

Design the first draft of your poster or poster series:
Roughly render your sketches. (You can focus on polishing them next week.)
Create your grid.
Place your rendered sketches.
Place your title, tagline, intro copy, 3 headlines, and other relevant copy.
Type: Have at least 3 levels of reading.
Layout: Watch your negative space!
Print your poster (series) in two formats:
To scale, black & white: either tiled or on the plotter.
Fit-to-page on tabloid, in color.
Come to class prepared for a soft crit.

Review Designing for the Digital Age chapter 15. Familiiarize yourselfÂ
Print, review, and critique-with-a-pen your peer's wireframes, using the following guidelines:
Does the overall page flow support the overall taskflow?
Does each page layout support the current user task?
Does the page hierarchy (type, value, scale), support the current user task?
Are both the current step and next step obvious?
Where are there gaps (if any) in the wireframes as UI storyboard?
We will take time for you to review your peer feedback during class Tuesday.

Read Prototyping (Zaki Warfel):
ch. 3: You can skim, but grok the 5 purposes for prototyping.
ch. 4: Pay special attention to principles 5 through 8.
ch. 6: Start with the section entitled 'Progressive Paper Prototyping'.
Create tidy, polished wireframes:
Looking at your taskflow, decide on a single user path you would like to prototype and test.
Create one wireframe for each screen necessary to complete this single path in your taskflow. That is, you do not need to create screens for every possible user path, just the one you are going to test.
Screen size should be to-scale for mobile interfaces, or very close to scale for desktop web interfaces.
If you sketch your wires so long as they are tidy, readable, and legible.
If you render your wires digitally, use greyscale and at most one color.
Scan or print your wires.
Use tracing paper to annotate your wireframes:
Describe user actions.
Describe system response to user actions.
