Are you open to fic recommendations? If so, what stuff would you NOT be interested in?
I don’t see why not?? I have so many things to read, but I never mind adding to that list. Stuff that I’m NOT interested in is actually a super good question and makes it a lot easier to answer bc the list is shorter than what I AM interested in, lol.
So I’m not into poly relationships. Nothing against them at all, cause that’s legit, but I get so wrapped up in my otp that I just wanna read about klance together.
That being said, I also don’t like cheating fics or anything resembling that, bc of my own personal baggage ((there are exceptions to this, but it’s a case by case basis)).
I don’t usually read super short things. I have a mental formula for whether or not to try a fic when I come across it myself, and one of the requirements is a minimum average of 2k words per chapter. Preferably more.
I don’t usually read rated G things unless they’re highly recommended?? Just because like... I’m an adult, and I like adult themes. I like there to be enough otp interaction to feel satisfying, and at least some sexual tension, even if the fic never goes into that. That’s not an always, just a usually.
I’m usually not a fan of rp style fics, and that’s simply bc the reading of an rp is different from the reading of a fluid story and it kinda jars me as a reader. That’s just a personal preference.
I don’t like hard angst. Like... I’m fine with angst if it has a resolution and a happy ending. I don’t like sad endings. I don’t like character death. I like to see characters come out of their struggles better for it. I have enough depression, and I like to escape when I read.
I don’t usually like fics that follow the story line of existing content exactly. Whether that’s canonverse fics that have scenes from the show, or whether that’s fics that follow scenes from movies to a T. This is a My Brain TM thing, but if I know what’s coming/happening bc I’ve seen/read it before, my brain checks out. So reading scenes from the show slows the pacing down, and reading fics that follow stories exactly becomes predictable. Now I LOVE AUS. Placing a story in an existing universe is fantastic and I fucking love it. Example, I’ll get bored if a harry potter au follows the plot of the books, but I’ll read every hogwarts au until I die. If the fic deviates from the og plot or just follows it loosely, I’ll read it.
I’m not super into canonverse aus right now?? When I first join a fandom, I tend to only like canonverse, and then I slowly fade into only loving aus. I’ll still read canonverse if they sound interesting enough, but I’ve stopping reading ones that follow the show’s episodes because of the above bullet point.
I don’t like first person. Just a personal preference.
Honestly, that’s it. And most of that is just technical aspects of stories that I don’t like?? Any au or concept or plot, like... anything has a chance of catching my interest, so feel free to hit me up with your fic recs. I can’t guarantee I’ll read them, and I might have read them already, but I’ll check ‘em out.
