THATS IT FOR ME

- Seven shakes Dan and Yaz’s hands, Thirteen has mastered the ability to panic and snarl all in one expression. Yaz in particular seems slightly dumbfounded as she processes him and Seven makes a joke. His rolling-‘r’s and Yaz remembering her Doctor’s attempt at them to undo the handcuffs cause her to smile rather than the joke itself. However Seven just seems happy she’s relaxed. Pops his hat on her head and tweaks her nose. She is so caught up in the nose tweaking she fails to notice the hat.

- Dan sees Ace, and he knows the eighties baby, that’s definitely an age-appropriate lesbian right there and this can only do Yaz good. Unsubtly shoves them together - Yaz doesn’t notice because she’s Distracted, Ace does and is picking up what Wingman over here is putting down - she loves being able to cut to the chase.

- (And Ace is glad to have a distraction from the Doctor being a queer children’s TV presenter, which is somehow not not on brand in a way she can’t quite explain.)

- Ace finds out she’s a cop, grins, calls her a pig, and shouts “What were you thinking, Professor?” without breaking eye-contact.

- Yaz should be offended by all of this, instead is…not. And warm. ‘Professor’ also does something to her. She’s definitely too hot and needs to take her jacket off. But she’s not wearing one. Shit.

- When asked what she does with the Doctor, Ace says that she’s the one who brings the explosives. Yaz laughs. Ace shows her the Nitro-9 in question. Yaz stops laughing and holds the can delicately. “They made us get penpals in school, and mine was this kid in Ireland whose Dad was in the IRA. I modified the recipe from there.”

- “Not gonna arrest me are you?” *wink*

- “Might have to if you’ve got stuff that dangerous on ya.”

- “Oh, I’m a dangerous woman. Wanna see my baseball bat?”

- yes

- Dan trying to sneak emergency date money into Yaz’s pocket which is easier said than done, and is grateful that now a tenner can be worth what it’s supposed to, instead of about two fucking coffees from Starbucks.

- Time disruptions mess up any fledgling plans. The Professors are nowhere to be found. Dan nearly gets taken off by some sort of pterodactyl. Yaz finds Ace takes direction surprisingly well, and these things are as scared of explosives as every other creature in the universe besides apparently Ace. They see off most of the pterodactyls that seem to be emanating from where they’ve come.

- Yaz is chilly. Ace ignores her protests and lends Yaz her jacket.

- Dan is vibrating in the background, back to pretending he’s not here, like he was doing up to the moment he got Jurassic Parked.

- There is a shiny swirling wormhole in an alley off to the side they must’ve passed. In the center is Thirteen clearly strangling a glowing Seven with his own scarf.

- After an altercation in which Thirteen gets bear-hugged, pickpocketed, and everyone gets hit with the baseball bat, Yaz successfully arrests Thirteen til she calms down.

- Seven insists that he can’t keep be keeping any secrets from Thirteen, because she is he, and he is she. Thirteen asks Ace how she ever resisted murdering her.

- “Well I could’ve, but now you’ve told me I don’t, so I can’t. That’s just basic timeline stuff; else, you know, dinosaurs.”

- Yaz invites Ace into the TARDIS (“Hang on, we could’ve had something that looked like this the whole time?”) and wonders if she’d like to come along for an adventure or two. Thirteen says she can’t, and reminds them of the importance of timelines.

- Yaz ruefully hands back the jacket. Seven collects his hat from her head. She feels herself burn again.

- “Dan! Why the hell didn’t you tell me I was wearing that.”

- “Just reminded me of old times.”

- After leaving, Yaz meanders back to her room, visions of anarchists dancing in her head.

- Dan stays with the Doctor, who finishes aggressively flicking things on the console.

- “Funny that Ace and Yaz hanging out some more would’ve broken the timeline. Considering they’ve been doing that all day, and the only one messing up timelines was you.”

I’d like to think that it may be the reason why Ray was out that night at Eats and Beats, to keep with tradition of going out even though Rose isn’t here anymore.
