flash: 

Vita woke up in the middle of the night, wondering why her right hand was being squeezed very, very tightly.

Amber was twitching in her sleep, Vita observed. Her hand was locked in with Vita’s.

“Amber,” Vita whispered. “Amber, wake up,”

Amber’s eyes shot open, and flicked to her left, where Vita was lying.

She grabbed Vita’s hand, squeezing it hard enough to break. Flipping on top of Vita, Amber pinned Vita’s wrists over her head with her left arm, choked Vita with her right and sat on her thighs.

“Who are you?’ she growled.

“Amber,” Vita squeaked, her throat getting crushed. “Amber, dammit, it’s-“

In a flash, Amber was off Vita and a few steps away, panting hard. “Vita,” she said.

Vita sat up, examining her wrist. It was slightly bruised, and Vita knew that it would hurt in the morning, but she wasn’t concerned about that.

laugh: 

“How’re you going to do that?”

Coral shoots her an amused look. “How’d Amber go through three weeks of your questions without killing you?”

Vita laughed. “I dunno,” she admitted sheepishly. Using her magic, Vita flicked a few branches off the path, revealing the edge of cliff.

Coral grins at her and steps right to the edge of the cliff, inhaling deeply.

And then she jumps over.

hear: 

“Show me your Mark.” Erin ordered, quietly.

Vita rolled up her shirt, revealing her Mark.

Erin touched a ring on his left hand with a slim finger. “My Mark is normal. My Element is Air and I am an Elementis. Tell me about yourself.”

“My name is Vita. I control all the Elements and I can make and destroy life. My Mark is different. I do not know why I am what I am.”

Erin nodded decisively. “You can stay here. Train with us, help the rebellion.”

Vita beamed in joy. “Thank you!”

Erin held up a finger. “But,” he said, “but, you keep yourself scarce. No one should know about your specialty. If anyone hears, I will have no choice but to kill them and you. Understand?”
