this seemed to be a thing he did every morning, walking out to the coffee shop for his two shots of espresso with extra sugar that’d take him through the rest of the day. but today he had actually managed to get them to come with him. wasn’t their first time there yet anything was a good enough reason to be with them. it’s sure the way they seemed to roll their eyes at his flirtatious attempts had him on his toes every time yet this wasn’t just a challenge for him even when he does love them. axel was often confident and flirtatious and it had all but started like that yet they had him weak. this was serious for him this once. he wanted nothing else but to charm his way to their heart the way they did with his. pushing his cup to the side he took his elbows to the middle of their table to get close, his eyes lingering on their laugh as they seemed to be enjoying themselves. he was expecting a dismissive response once again but still he couldn’t stop being daring. “ you’re coming on dates with me...you’re even laughing. you’ve completely fallen for me. ”

“You know, I’m glad I came back home,” Holden admitted as she sat in the car beside him. “I missed you, so very much. And being back here is just reminding me that leaving you to begin with was hard enough. I’m not quite sure I can do it again.” And she meant that, being away from him, someone who had really been a key part of her life, had felt so weird. Being back in person was just so natural.

“So...” Crimson spoke out with a soft laugh as the other had walked in on her, catching her red handed, literally. “I could explain this but I feel like I don’t really have time for that right this second.” The blonde spoke as she stepped over the body on the floor, placing blood soaked hands on the others, “You’re going to help me, right? Not run and tell someone or call the police?” The question phrased with a sense of urgency, trust and a touch of warning. The last thing she wanted to do was turn one body into two because her trust was broken.

Friends. That’s what they had always said they were, even after a one night stand that had turned into months worth of intimate encounters. It had practically become a routine both seemed happy with, even when the label of what they were stayed the same. Maybe that’s why it hadn’t crossed Midnight’s mind to talk about her going on a few dates with someone, at least not until things became official. When she had gone over to their place for one of their usual hang outs she waited until they were both settled on the couch, watching some random movie before she told them the news. “So, I’ve been seeing this new guy, he is actually a total gentlemen. He asked me to be his girlfriend today and I said yes.” Words were said with a casualness, as if the news wasn’t super important or impactful to the other.

This situation had been frustrating, of course Jett had understood where the other was coming from. A stupid mistake had ended up hurting her partner and their best friend wasn’t impressed when they got back together afterwards. In most cases she didn’t really care about what others opinions of her were, but with how much they clearly meant to her partner it had been clear she needed to make amends. Now here she was, sitting outside a party with the other. “You know I never meant to hurt them, right? Like, I would never intentionally hurt them. I am sorry I did, I’ve apologised to them plenty, but I suppose I never realised how much it affected you, they clearly weren’t the only person I hurt.”

“yeah, yeah, that’s not gonna happen tonight. shit, i’m flattered, but you’re clearly way too fuckin’ drunk to make a wise decision.” leroy gently removed her hands from his shirt, chuckling at the state of his housemate. “can’t let you leave the house again, though, so you’re stuck with me for the night.” he muttered, closing the front door behind his back to prove a point. she was bound to do things she would regret in the morning if leroy let her take an uber to god knows where, so he blocked the way between her and the door until he came up with an alternative to her suggestion. one that didn’t involve taking their clothes off. “how about i get myself a beer, you some water, and we’ll get up on the roof. we can, like, stargaze or some shit and you can tell me about how shitty your boyfriend was.” 

Establishing what was standard made the deviations easy to spot, and those were usually where the truth of things resided.
