My 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Review (w/ my Paper Dolls) - Part 3 [Dec 1, 2020]
Here’s the Part 3 of my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad; w/ my always guests, two paper dolls.🎮🙂
In today’s part I’m doing a comparison with my two owned controllers 🎮🎮 (My Sony PS4 DualShock 4 V2 Controller and iPega 9069 controller), as well as some features and differences.😊
BTW #1: But before that, you noticed that I only have two controllers on hand today... So you’re asked me, where’s your Logitech F310 wired controller anyway? And what happened? Answer(s): ○ #1 - The USB cable wired was busted and completely unused. Meaning that I’m unable to fix it because I don’t have a replaceable for broken USB cable wire; by the time when I’m introduced to my new controller, the iPega 9069.😟 ○ And #2 - My mom wants my unused F310 controller to throw away in order to clean junk misc. items inside our house 🗑️🏠. After all it’s busted and there’s nothing I can do about it... Until I have second thoughts, that why should I display it instead, but it’s too late. It’s such a shame and I really missed it very much. *sigh*😢 But since I have a new one right here, hope my new fresh controller from 8bitdo will not disappoint me.🙂
And uhh... 🎄Happy 1st day of December everyone!🌟😁
Anyways let’s move on to my topic right away.
So without further ado, let’s get started:
1st & 2nd Image(s): • Let’s start out with the front facing layouts. As you already seen their differences, the 8bitdo SN30 Pro +’s button layouts are completely identical to the Sony DS4 V2 controller; with some noticeable distinctions, like the DS4′s touchpad, front speaker, etc. While the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+’s shape design was inspired to the original Nintendo SNES / Super Famicom controller with adding grips on each side and analog triggers at the back. Plus it has Star ⭐button (that act as a Turbo function for PC and other devices / Capture button for the Switch Console) on the left, and pixel heart shape ♥️ 8bitdo 2nd logo brand button (that act as a Home button for the Switch console) on the right. On the other hand and unlike the two controllers, the iPega 9069 controller’s used layout was a Xbox 360 / one controller as well as the shape design of itself, with a functional touch pad (much like the DS4 controller) and a two buttons located on the lower part, which is Turbo button and Macro button 🔘🔘.
(So what’s a “Macro” you asked? Well it’s a functional feature that can command any buttons you desire into one single press. Basically, you can use this for fighting games or any suited game genres without repeatedly the buttons manually from your fingers, and it’s literally cheating. Although I don’t actually used that Macro button during my gaming experience.)
• And one more thing to mention. Unlike the iPega 9069, both 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ and Sony DS4 V2 controller have motion controls and gyroscope features when connecting through N-Switch or using 8bitdo wireless adapter / retro receiver, which is a very big plus for the two of them.🙂👍
Important Note: The 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad does NOT have an ❌HD Rumble nor ❌NFC Amiibo scan built-in.
•My paper dolls saying that they’re look cool three controllers, but they’re really missed the Logitech F310 controller. I know thanks, but things change now.😌
3rd & 4th Image(s): •Now moving on the grip sides. Both SN30 Pro+ and the DualShock 4 controller are very slightly familiar each other, while the iPega 9069 literally mimics the Xbox 360/one controller. That’s all I can say so move along...🙂
5th Image: • Onto the low side. This is the part that are now big difference; on the top here’s iPega 9069′s mode connection toggle switch (I’ve already discuss this before so please [CLICK ME!] if you want to see some information), the middle was the Sony DualShock 4′s EXT and 3.5mm audio port, and finally 8bitdo SN30 Pro+’s four indicated lights and two rectangular holes for the smartphone clip add-on item. Once again, that’s all I can say so move along...🙂
6th Image: • Next is the shoulder and trigger button differences and ports. First off, both the iPega 9069 and the Sony DualShock 4 controller uses the old Micro USB port. Yeah I said it “old” because the Micro USB port was so last decade or so, I’m sure you hate it now but for me I guess this is fine though🤷♂️. (Don’t get mad at me please, it’s just my opinion.) On the other hand, SN30 Pro+ gamepad from 8bitdo uses the USB type C port which is very good and very welcomed to our new USB port usage. And despite that, it’s reversible connection without any mistakes. 😊👍 Not to mention that has a sync / pairing button and a single light indicator (much like iPega 9069) on each side of SN30 Pro+ gamepad. And speaking of light, the DualShock 4 had a bigger big triangular shape light bar than the SN30 Pro+ and iPega 9069 has 💡.🙂
• As for their shoulder and trigger buttons, both SN30 Pro+ and DualShock 4 controllers are slightly respective differences when it comes to my button feelings; DualShock 4′s shoulder & trigger buttons are quite loud and quite like tactile 🔊, while the SN30 Pro+’s shoulder & trigger buttons are quite opposite 🔉, with their shoulder buttons are mushy and their analog triggers are quite spongy but very comfortable at the same time compare to the DualShock 4. As for their shape designs between the two are similar, with the SN30 Pro+’s shoulder buttons are very reference to the original SNES / Super Famicom controller, and also the trigger layouts was copied paste to the DualShock series. iPega 9069 on the other hand was strongly mimics to the Xbox one controller’s shoulder & trigger shape designs, with the button layouts was once again came from the Sony DualShock series. And unlike the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+, the iPega 9069 was completely layout written of L1, L2, R1 and R2 buttons. As for the button feelings of the iPega 9069′s shoulder & trigger buttons, they’re very loud clicky shoulder buttons, while the triggers are actually good yet loud too 🔊.
7th Image: • And finally their back controllers. Aside from their grip shape designs and plastic material usage for the three controllers, both iPega 9069 and 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad have a unique features on their own; the iPega 9069 had a trigger toggle switch that can decreased the pressure of the analog triggers, while the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ had a battery compartment that houses the battery pack inside and can swap out by using normal "Rechargeable” AA batteries. Both of which are very useful for me at their own right.😊 DualShock 4′s back on the other hand, literally nothing at all. That’s all I could say about the DualShock 4, sorry...😅
BTW #2: I want to add some thoughts about the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad 🎮 and the Sony DualShock 4 V2 controller 🎮: I would say they’re both good in terms of comfort feeling and pressing buttons. To say nothing that they have both Gyroscope and Motion Sensor Controls system, and some respective features between these two controllers like DS4 has touchpad (and later the DualSense controller for the PS5), and 8Bitdo has Turbo function on the left star button (as well as the 8bitdo heart logo button on the right), a removable proprietary battery pack that can lasts up to 20 hours and can swap to regular AA “Rechargeable” batteries and finally I can do button adjustments using the “Ultimate Software” by plugging my SN30 Pro+ gamepad through my Windows PC / Apple Mac OS (,which I’ll get to that very soon). Except however (and once again), that the 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+’s does not have HD Rumble nor NFC Amiibo scan when I connect to the Switch console (both original and lite variant), but otherwise it’s a solid 3rd party controller promise. Now I wouldn’t say that the controller is better than the other when it comes to comfort grip, but in my opinion I cannot deny their controller designs at their own right.(The DS4′s grip shape is like a curvy tube, while the SN30 Pro+’s grip shape is sort of like boomerang curves) Bottom-line their controller styles are similarity pretty good in my hands. 😊🤲 As for the iPega 9069′s comfort grip 🎮, it really does feel like original / authentic Xbox one controller but in a cheap plastic way of sorts; although I don’t have the actual Xbox one controller in my hand, so yeah.😅
8th & 9th Image(s): • Now with the controller comparisons are completely done, I wanted to do a perfect match brand with my 8bitdo wireless adapter/retro receiver and my SN30 Pro+ gamepad. And as my next upcoming part, this will be a preview for what is to come of a pairing connection between the wireless adapter and the gamepad, and see how it performs when I play all kinds games.🎮📶🖥️😁
•My paper dolls saying that they’re so exciting to see me doing a pairing connection between two 8bitdo items that I owned. I know, I’m so hyped up in the next part review! So I hope you won’t miss out.😄
