❄️🍓 The two hummingbirds I have right now (Norman and Annakin) are too shy and/or too busy to be photographed, so I thought I might share my abbreviated #Winter setup with you all, sans hummingbird... 1️⃣ I keep one #SugarWater #HummingbirdFeeder going, rotating fresh clear sugar water in every few days, or if it freezes. Hanging empty planter baskets gives tired birds a convenient place to rest! 🛋 2️⃣ My #SalviaHotlips is still blooming! 💋🌹 #Salvia is a favorite for hummingbirds, and has proven to be both drought and cold resistant! 💪 I also have a #RainChain leading to a stainless steel dish in a planter basket, with a little solar fountain to keep water moving up in to the air... 💦 (Did you know that hummingbirds can’t use a regular birdbath? Their legs are too short!) ⛲️🛀🏼⛲️ 3️⃣ I have #WinterStrawberries 😍🍓❄️ I can’t believe it’s December 1st and I’ve got #FreshBerries growing on the porch!#fragariavesca 🌸🍓🌸 A little plexiglass keeps the cold off, but doesn’t stop the bees from getting in there! 🐝 4️⃣ I put bananas past their prime on a red plate, again, in a hanging planter basket. The bananas draw plenty of fruit flies, an important provider of protein for hummingbirds! 🤔🍽 #WinterIsComing #HappyDecember #WinterIsHere
