Why do I think that if they actually used Ragatha instead of creating Ribbit for Jax's flashbacks and past, it would have had more weight and depth to the story?
Also, it makes me curious on how Ragatha was able to, at least, build a spine on pushing back on Jax bs, even if not so often.
I'm gonna be honest anon ep 9 Ragatha doesn't feel right to me for that reason.
The whole show Ragatha never hesitated to call out Jax for stuff, no matter how Jax acted with her and what he did that never stopped Ragatha from approaching and confronting him. We're talking about the same woman who literally pointed at Jax and accused him of shit with a gun aimed at her. She didn't even care for the gun or for dying in the game.
The only thing that could've made sense that made her stop approaching was the whole Kinger speech about "protecting your energy and keeping distance" etc...
And yet ep 9 makes it seem like she was so terrified of Jax and their relationship was only about Jax pushing and her taking it with a sad look on her face and that pmo. Because while Jax is obviously clearly not a good person and ep 9 wants to make Jax look worse and worse for some reason, that's not their dynamic. That's not Ragatha.
And everytime i bring it up im told ohh its because she was sad about Ribbit. Real Ragatha would not leave Jax alone about the Ribbit topic until they both fought over it and it damaged their already fragile relationship (allegedly since they were allegedly friends). Jax was always pissed off about Ragatha, so much dialogue implication that she wouldn't leave some topics alone like Jax wished she would do.
All it takes is a rewatch of the early eps or at least until their last interaction in ep 6 to understand why the finale feels so disconnected from how they were written at the start... it just, feels like it was made with different characters in mind.
Or maybe when it comes to Ragatha, the whole addressing their past friendship thing felt like it was cut shorter and added like a "here, damn" i dont know
Sorry if i went off topic every time i think back on how much Ragatha pushed back and how their dynamic bounced, the finale feels more and more disconnected to me
I don't know if replacing Ribbit would be necessary but something simple like making Ribbit equally important in both Ragatha and Jax's lives to the point it breaks whatever ragajax are having could fix a lot of issues imo
