headcanon â the avalanche;
The thought of an avalanche had barely crossed Addyâs mind for the entire four months sheâd been in Wintergreen. She thought about it on occasion, especially on particularly bad weather days, but other than that, it wasnât something she worried about. Addy wouldnât call herself a worrier and there are a very little amount of things that sheâd truly freak out big-time over.
Lucky for her, she was happy in the bar when the avalanche hit, which meant that a few things were already ticked off her list â being somewhere she was comfortable, being somewhere she knew was safe and being with people she was comfortable with. But the longer they were in there, the more uneasy Addy became. It surprised her, the unease, because she never thought that a situation like this would make her uncomfortable or worried, especially because she knew that someone would come and get them out of there at some point.Â
But, as the manager of the bar, Addy sort of took charge where she could. Sheâd make sure everyone was okay. Sheâd make sure everyone was warm and fed and had water to the best of her ability. She made sure that everyone was doing okay just so she didnât have to worry about herself being okay â a trait sheâd had since she was a child. Her mind was running fast, though, and she couldnât help but worry just a little about her other friends on the mountain that were possibly hurt or in danger.Â
She convinced herself, though, that they were going to be fine. Just as she convinced herself when she slipped off to her office for a second to take deep breaths and calm herself down whenever she felt her heartbeat getting quicker and her breathing becoming shorter. And then sheâd return to the rest of the group, all of whom sheâd suddenly grown to care a lot about, and put on a little facade to seem totally chill with the situation.
When they were rescued, Addy was more relieved than sheâd ever been in her entire life. She knew that they were never really in proper danger and that it was more of a waiting game, but she still collapsed down on a chair in the bar and let her head fall into her hands as the relief spread over her.
