Hello everyone! We have reached that point in the ER Games this year. But before we get into all of that I want to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who participated. Fests like this don't happen without you guys, so thank you for thinking this little game could be fun.

Thank you to everyone who read/viewed the works and voted, or shared, or commented, or just engaged in any way. You all keep the motivation high.

Events like this happen because of all of you, so thank you to everyone who was in any way involved in making this happen again.

And now, the thing you're all actually here for: THE WINNERS!

(Please remember that none of these works were judged against each other, just against the categories, and that this was just for fun.)

It was a very close fight everyone! The winning team won by barely more than 1 single point!

For each of the three categories the winner breakdown went: FEST THEME: Team Past! TEAM THEME: Team Past! PROMPT USE: Team Future!

Of course. Thank you for the invite. 

A Foreword

When putting together this event, I never imagined that it would be nearly as popular as it was. In total, there were over 250 individual works across 26 entrants; these works ranged from drabbles to full-blown fics, and explored everything from light-hearted friendship antics and domesticity to sweet mutual pining and long-standing romantic relationships.  Hell, there were even several participants who weren’t even on tumblr at all! Nevertheless, you all took on the prompts given to you and created beautiful, dare I say wondrous things to be proud of. 

I learned so much from all of you as both a creator and as a host for events like this--I hope to make this a regular event for the FFXIV fandom, so please keep following this blog for updates on if (when!) the next event will take place.

In the meantime, I have a survey available for those interested in sharing their thoughts about the event and how I can make it better if I host it again in the future!

The Method

Everyone who took part in the event (having at least one written work on their masterlist by its end) was given at least one entry for the raffle. From there, I counted up everyone’s masterlists and gave them numbered entries according to how many lines completed across one or both bingo sheets (if they chose to do a second one). 

As for the picking, I used this tool from the Random Number Generator website to pick the entry numbers, then cross-referenced them to everyone’s entries to get the five winners of the raffle.

Each of the winners below will be contacted by me (@darthsuki) and given their list of prizes. They will have 48 hours to respond to the message before another winner will be picked in their place.

Foretold Glory

Congratulations to our winners, in order @nine-effing-hells, @somethin-to-nothin and @reaperfromtheabyss!!

We start with the beautiful monstrosity, Herald of Erstwhile gods! I got a soft spot for cards with two mechanics and to think you could combine another mechanic with the somewhat boring forecast to make such a wild card! The random factor of the forecast trigger ties everything up really nicely. You really exceeded my expectations!

Next up, Frantic Spellreading! The name and overall flavor fit very well. I like that the forecast ability is begging to be abused repeatedly but there’s also a chance A) you might not get something for the mana you spent because you either you found a pricey or situational card. B) Lose important cards in the self mill process (planeswalkers, artifacts etc)

While I can keep using the ability “forever” there’s also this opportunistic nature of the spell copying, so if you dig up something good or there’s another opening, I would definitely go for it and make a splashy move!

Funny that both cards I picked as winners have a random element in them. Maybe a little RNG is what forecast really needs. But will the Senate approve?

Let’s ask Azorius Writbearer for an official opinion. It’s the winning card from the forecast support pool. While it doesn’t support the recklessness of the two winners, as the discount doesn’t apply for them, it appreciates all the card revealing for a good old azorius flying punch in the face XD

In a more serious note, forecast is a bit pricey, any discount is welcome. The trigger is pretty powerful, you might wanna just reveal anything just to push some damage in, or give your opponent something to worry about, other than your revealed cards that is.
