William Stryker's dangerous, anti-mutant rhetoric fills Rei with dread. Not too long ago a man in Germany was saying similar things about Jewish people, LGBT+ people and disabled people. Despite Stryker's venomous words Noir hoped that the number of kind people would overpower those cruel and those easily led astray. His hopes proved misplaced and now... Now he's fighting alongside what little remains of humanity to beat back those who would do them harm.
Today they aim to not only defend but go on the defensive, reclaiming a highway taken over by Trask's Sentinels and human soldiers. Or rather "human." Rei refuses to believe anyone truly human could side with a man as heartless as Trask. While their cruel enemies band together, so do Noir's allies. The riding tensions in the nation have forced him to work with people he's never met, from famous heroes to local, not well known vigilanties.
The vital task of taking over highway 71 has a stacked roster of himself, Wolverine, Ironheart, Deadpool and himself. Such a famous lineup does have him feeling like a little kid trying to tag along and play with his cooler, older siblings. Despite his own insecurities the team is fast and professional and before he knows it he blinks AND--- And their strike group is splintering off into smaller sub groups. Wolverine and Ironheart prowl towards the lingering Sentinels, Deadpool offers to keep watch on their original outlook and he's assigned to recon with Steve. Noir isn't entirely sure how someone built like a tank is going to sneak around effectively but he'll maybe he'll end up surprised? After all, not just anyone can become an Avenger. "I'll follow your lead, Captain," he murmurs to Steve, trailing after him as if he himself is Steve's shadow.
