okay but does Shakespeare try to follow Jaskier back into the Witcherverse when he goes back to the portal?
Okay so this one - I am very torn on.
My notes for this say “and then Jaskier goes back through the portal, and he asks Shakespeare to come with him, but he says no. Right? Right??”
So you can tell I am at odds with myself.
Here’s the thing. I ship Geraskier (shocking, I know). But... I want people to fall in love with Shakespeare. I want people to love him as much as Jaskier does, and I want people to feel broken-hearted when they’re split apart.
He could return with him... and perhaps Geralt will realise what he could have had, what he’s lost. Or he could stay in London and Jaskier can return with the confidence to know what he deserves - and Geralt will have had the time to think about how important Jaskier is to him.
Who knows. It’ll take a lot for me to not endgame Geraskier, and if I’m being extremely honest and terrible... people are more likely to read it if I do.
According to historical sources Shakespeare died very suddenly. Maybe he didn’t die - maybe he slipped into another world and left ours behind. Maybe he doesn’t go with Jaskier - maybe he finds his own way to the Witcherverse, Witchers and mages and portals be damned.
After all, he wants to meet the man who broke his bard’s heart so thoroughly.
