/"I dont care!"/ with analogical please?
“G-get away from me!” Virgil cried, ducking away and curling his wings around himself. His huge, black, skeletal wings. Logan was staring at him...staring at his wings. The one person who Virgil had most wanted to keep his secret from knew the truth, and now things would never be the same.
Movement flashed in the corner of Virgil’s eye, and he realized Logan was walking towards him.
“Stay back,” Virgil shrieked, and Logan froze raising his hands. Virgil was trembling now, tears threatening to spill over his eyelids and his heart pounding in his chest.
“Virgil, you need to breathe...let’s try counting, okay?”
Logan’s voice filled the silence, counting in a quiet, steady rhythm that they’d followed together so many times before.
“There...that’s it Virgil, you’re doing better,” Logan continued, and Virgil peeked out at him from behind his wing bone.
Oddly enough, his face wasn’t twisted in shock or revulsion or fear, or any of the looks he was used to getting from people when they saw his wings for the first time. He couldn’t blame them; who ever heard of wings that came without feathers? He was a freak; an abomination of nature that children had run away from screaming on the playground and that bullies had been merciless towards when they realized Virgil wouldn’t fight back.
“Virgil, can I come closer?” Logan asked, and Virgil met his eyes.
“W-why?” jhe asked warily, and Logan offered him a small smile.
“Because my friend is hurting and I want to help him.
“But...my wings,” Virgil stammered. “They’re...they’re wrong.”
“I don’t care,” Logan said firmly. “I would not even use the word wrong to describe them, but whatever adjective you use, no matter how inaccurate, it will not matter. Your wings don’t determine who you are, Virgil. No matter what anyone has told you in the past, you are not a monster.”
Fresh tears sprang to Virgil’s eyes, and Logan stepped forward, opening his arms. Virgil fell into them easily, curling up underneath Logan’s soft navy blue feathers and letting him run fingers gently over his wing bone.
“There now,” Logan murmured. “You’re alright now. I’m here.”
