Mt. Brave was an all star. This one had a brilliant nose to match the big old body! I grabbed this one on sale for $40 traveling from Myrtle Beach. My only regret is that I didn't grab a few. This 2013 #Hess #Collection #Alomi is a #Cabernet that was formed from previously blended wine from there lower mountain property. First off the nose is fantastic. It is big and spicy. It's full of ripe cherries and black licorice. It's light on oak and that's not a bad thing. Unfortunately that's were the accolades stop. This isn't a bad wine but underwhelmes. The palate doesn't match. Who ever gave this 91 points either got paid to, got blinded the wrong bottle. It's not terrible but I would not but this up against anything higher than 15$. This one is a miss and just not put together very well. Happy #Fay #FathersDay. Stags Leap Wine Cellars make some phenomenal #NapaValley #cabernetsauvignon. Fay in no exception. This one is a Blueberry monster. This is bold and enticing. The tannins are perfectly rounded. There is a wisp of oak in the nose but settles in nicely to give way to raspberry and red licorice. There is no restraint here. Old world eat your heart out. Fay is in your face with ripe fruit but still has enough polish to not be over the top. I like this one a lot. If there is a style of wine that I reach for more times than not, this is it. #Artemis is a blend of #StagsLeap #Cellars #NapaValley Vineyards. More know for #SLV #Fay and the excellent #CaskNo23 Stags leap cellars puts out a pretty consistent product year in and out. The 2013 was no exception. This one is a nice bold Cali wine that is designed to drink young. It's in your face and ready to drink now. This wine is a black cherry monster. The tannins are ripe and juicy. This one gives way to sweet ripe plums and some great vanilla in the nose, and on the palate. As with most California wines, 2013 was a monster vintage and this is no exception. 14 is on shelves everywhere and is a solid wine, but 13 is a special year. I picked up some on a deal at 35$ and will keep adding until my honey hole is cleaned out!
