This beautiful little owl arrived at the centre after having a very bad day! After, initially, falling down a chimney, it was released by the homeowner, only to fly into a window, not once, but twice! It was given a thorough check-over by Maru, our vet, and, although it had escaped major bodily injury, it had been left with damage to its left eye. During an inspection with an ophthalmoscope and fluorescein dye, Maru found an ulcer to the eye surface, as well as a minor haemorrhage to the back of the eye. Luckily, these are both treatable and the owl is, currently, on a course of antibiotics and topical anti-inflammatories. @ograinedraws and I saved a bird today. This little fella hit the front window hard but was clearly still alive, just stunned. After some googling and a phone call we ended up keeping him in a box for an hour and a half in a dark, quiet place. Then we took him outside, opened up the box, and a few minutes later off he flew. . . #bird #windowstrike #animalrescue #excitingday
