#163: MAR - “solitude of many”
if i remember correctly MAR was supporting STALINGRAD in the tüwi at the end of august 1997. this was the very first show i went to, after moving to vienna. i still remember nuri screaming his lungs out. [back then he had lots of locks on his head. please correct me, if i’m wrong.] the show was great and there were lots of people, even though it was in summer.
the “solitude of many”-7″ was released by stefan kauschitz (windmill records) one year later (if discogs is right - there’s no date on the records/in the booklet). i was lucky enough to get one copy of the clear-vinyl version. the artwork (cover and booklet) is really great. just like the music. you can’t put MAR in a certain box, though. you’ve got this metallic edge that gets mixed up with power violence or even screamo. the later recordings were much more metallic - like the split-7″ with FALL TIME. on firewalk with me. the four songs on “solitude of many” have aged very well indeed.
Seriously, we should be friends.
