German soldiers pick their way through the ruins of a factory - Stalingrad 1942
I hope you guys wouldn't mind if a historical enthusiast like me does something like this for my fav characters lol 😆 Anyway, here’s @skykain ‘s elite duo; Jezza and Martha. They're depicting Soviets in Stalingrad, September 1942 period (you guys can take it as they’re doing some sort of role play in a virtual world or smthg like that 👌)
For more context, please check DA version below👇
Elite gals on the field: Stalingrad 1942 — artwork by FeReise-DA on DeviantArt. A little bit of surprise for you guys. Hope y'all wouldn't m
Mamayev Kurgan
Entrance to the memorial complex and the first statue dedicated to soviet defenders of Stalingrad and Mamayev Kurgan. Some of the inscriptions (including quotes from Order No. 227 [Not a step back order]) : Stand to the death, We shall not put the memory [of our ancestors] to shame.
A monument commemorating the fighting within the city, depicting many of the heroic acts on symbolic ruined walls. Some of the inscriptions: "Give them some fire, folks. Remind them who holds this house and this street. Sgt. Pavlov"
"If I die consider me a communist"
"Get into the house together: you and your grenade" (quote from V.Chuikov)
"Everyone here is brave"
"You have a machine gun around your neck, Act"
"For our socialist homeland!"
"Is there a respectable reason for leaving one's firing position? Out of all excuses only one will be taken into account: death"
As well as numerous others I haven't been able to take photos of or read.
Next are some inscriptions which are interconnected, first is from the square of heroes, second is a part of the symbolic ruined walls and the third one is from the Hall of military glory with the eternal flame.
"With an iron wind blowing straight into their faces, they were still marching forward; and fear seized the enemy. Were these people who were attacking? Were they even mortal at all?
"They all were mere mortals"
"Yes, we were mere mortals, and few of us survived, but we all fulfilled our patriotic duty to our sacred motherland."
Hall of military glory lists some (only 7 thousand out of more than 1.5 million) of the names of Red Army soldiers who died during the Battle of Stalingrad. The names were chosen randomly.
Motherland calls, the famous 85 meter statue. She stands on top of a mass grave of about 35000 soviet soldiers.
Just a shit ton of work compiled from the last month so slightly oldish just never got around to posting it also emesis blue is peak!!! I want every frame of that movie as a poster in my room😭

Its kinda interesting learning how stalin didnt want the city to be named Stalingrad after himself, compared to the western narrative that he purposely renamed the city to Stalingrad to try and force the soldiers to fight harder out of some belief that they wouldn't dare lose a city named after their leader.
