Time passed by and Fall's belly just kept growing, as she found herself getting closer and closer to her kit's birth, until finally; she found herself going into labor. Laying down, she panted through gritted teeth as pain rippled through her; her claws slid in and out, as they kept briefly digging into the ground. She also found that her gaze kept sliding towards the stick she had gotten a bit ago, so she would have something to bite on during birth. But once she realized she had gone into labor, she had decided to wait until the pain became more constant and intense to start using it, so for now she would just have to deal with the current pain through gritted teeth.
A bit more time passed, and eventually, the pain Fall was feeling did grow more constant and intense, so she leaned forward and snatched up the stick. A bit more time passed, and she found herself biting the stick rather hard as a muffled yowl emanated from her, as she pushed. Soon, a kit came into the word, as she dropped the stick and leaned towards the kit. Licking it fiercely, she soon removed the birth-sac as she nudged it towards her belly. She didn't get much time to admire or examine the kit, as another ripple of pain ran through her. So with a grunt and through gritted teeth, she turned back to the stick and snatched it up again.
Some more time passed, and another kit was eventually born. Fall did the same thing she had done with the last kit, but held off examining it more closely to see if any other kits would be born; she did have three last time after-all. But after some more time passed, and no more pain came, she assumed she was done and turned her attention back to the two kits, which were suckling at her belly. Examining them closely, she was glad to see that they both seemed healthy, and it also looked like they're both boys.
Huh, last time I had three kits that were all girls, but this time I've had one less kit and their both boys, Fall thought in amusement, whiskers twitching. She also admired their appearances, one was a light-ish brown tom with black Bengal markings, and the other was a brown Bengal tom, neither of them really looked like her but she didn't mind. But she did find her heart squeezed some-what with sadness at their appearances still though, as they looked like their father with their Bengal markings. "I'm sorry you probably won't get to know your father personally, little ones," she whispered with an edge of sorrow in her voice.
Fall shook her head at this, she still couldn't do anything about that, so right now; she would focus on naming these two. Glancing a the light-ish brown kitten with black Bengal markings, she found for some reason, her mind going to a memory of Sunfur and her. Where when they had been out in the territory together one day, and noticed some mist and the sun had seemed to have combined together to create a shadow, and at the time; it had seemed like a sign to them. Her heart squeezed with slight sadness despite it being a happy memory, as she knew what she wanted to name this kit. "Shadow...I'll call you Shadow," she whispered with a mixture of happiness and sadness in her voice.
Fall then turned her attention to the other kit, the one who reminded her the most of Windfoot. Well, I guess in a way I named Shadow after Sunfur, or a moment I had with him. So I guess I could name this kit after his Father, but I'm not going to call him Wind or Foot, especially the second one, that would be weird, she thought, a brief laugh, before her thoughts continued. No, I'll named him...Breeze, since a breeze is the wind pretty much, right? She thought, giving a small shrug. But now that naming them was over with, she found the reminder of Windfoot bringing some sadness to her again. I really am sorry that they probably won't ever get to know there Father.
For some reason, she found her mind drifting to HeatherClan after she thought that, the clan which Windfoot had belonged to before he had left for FlameClan; as she probably didn't stop her thoughts from doing so since it was a bit of relief not to linger on the sadness. The she-cat had been apart of HeatherClan once too, and from the story he had told her, he still probably had family there, didn't he? Maybe...Maybe, even if they probably wouldn't get to know their father, they could get to know his family instead.
Yeah...that's what I'll do, once their old enough for traveling, I'll take them to HeatherClan, so they can meet their father's family, she thought, some determination flaring through her. Hopefully they just won't hold it against me for leaving their clan all that time back. She felt a flash of worry at this, but a yawn soon escaped her after that thought, which made her realize how tired she felt. She might have only given birth to two kits, and the birth might have gone well and smoothly, but still, it had left her rather tired. So laying her head down and closing her eyes, one last thought came to her head.
But that is for the future, for now, I'm going to get some rest, Fall thought, as she soon was whisked off to the realm of sleep.
