In the heart of the Mississippi Delta visisting my in-laws, driving by miles of soybeans, cotton, and corn. Most of the soybeans have been sprayed with chemicals to dry them down, but the constant rains means the fields are flooded and the machines can't get in to harvest. The crop dusters fly too close to the houses here. Happy that my farmy family is here to help spread the gospel of natural growing in this land of uninterrupted oppression of the earth and the people. Still, I can't help thinking of the textile mills of my home towns in Connecticut, profiting off the constant flow of white cotton harvested by enslaved Africans and later sharecroppers like my father-in-law. Natural farming is deep! It's a way to heal more than the land. #naturalfarming #mississippifarming #soybeans #chemicalfarming #textilemills #willimanticthreadmill #sharecropping #cottongin (at Issaquena, Mississippi)
