I feel bad for them too. I discovered this little track at the onset of the pandemic...somehow they were able to keep racing. I've followed and bet on the track ever since. Track announcer/handicapper/racing secretary John Lies is one of the best in the business.
I hope they find all the horses safe and sound.

Wit on the Fly
In the first at Will Rogers Downs today the winner was Town Drunk with Lascallforalcohol rounding out the exacta.
Track announcer John J. Lies, one of the best in the business, called it the ‘Bottoms Up’ exacta as they crossed under the wire.

That's the payout for R5 at Will Rogers Downs today.
The quinella (first two, either order) paid more than the exacta (first two, exact order).
A rule of thumb would be that an exacta would pay twice as much as a quinella. After all, it's harder to predict. Small tracks, Monday afternoon, anomalous results.
(I bet the winner but didn't bet either exotic. Should have...)
Opening Day at Will Rogers Downs
So now my two favourite bullrings are in action -- Will Rogers and Turf Paradise. Hardly big-league, but fun. There's nothing quite like seeing the field spin out of the far turn and swing wide like a cavalry charge to the wire.

TuP closed suddenly in mid-march as the pandemic approached. It’s one of my favourite bull-ring tracks. Now I just need to hear when Will Rogers Downs (WRD) is going to re-open.
Horses eat every day, and if they can’t race and try to win some money, small owners will send them to slaughter. Nobody wants that. Let them race in empty tracks; satellite betting provides the purses.

Will Rogers Downs Race 9 19 May
$2 Exacta 11 / 5 $68.30 $2 Quinella 5 / 11 $79.80
I had to laugh when I saw the payouts for this race yesterday. Will Rogers Downs is a small thoroughbred track near Tulsa, Oklahoma, but with the closures of many of the major tracks due to the pandemic, it’s one of the few games in town. Horseplayers with nowhere else to go have turned their computer screens towards WRD (there are no punters on the grounds, no spectators at all).
Briefly -- parimutuel wagering means all the money wagered on a proposition, be it one horse to win or another to run second, or another two to run 1-2, is put into a separate pool. The track deducts its cut, the state takes its cut, and the remainder is divided equally among those who had made correct bets.
So in this instance, those who had bet on two specific horses to finish in first and second place in that order (exacta) were rewarded with a lower payoff than those who had bet those two would finish first and second in either order (quinella), which is obviously a less difficult undertaking.
The ‘wisdom of the crowd’ failed here. And no, my wisdom didn’t extend to having either of these tickets (although I did have the winner).

Fonner Park, in Grand Island, Neb., has received more attention than ever because of the coronavirus pandemic, with $2.8 million in wagers each day. But it is earning less from each bet with no fans on site.
I’ve been playing Will Rogers Downs in Tulsa, Oklahoma during the pandemic-forced closures of the major thoroughbred tracks.
WRD has John Lies, the Shakespearean actor-voiced track announcer, probably the best I’ve ever heard since Trevor Denman.
