when i first became a hellenic pagan i was quite confused why people shit on the tiktok community and why people call it toxic, but now seeing paganism, deities and witchcraft being turned into a spectacle, watered down to an aesthetic and the drama....
also more experienced pagans and polytheists can correct me on this but i saw a tiktoker belittle believers who believes theyr communicating to their deities daily through tarot, divinations and offerings etc. which yes i understand, the gods are bigger than us, theyr not just our friends we can easily just tap into and speak to. but to discourage believers by saying that the gods just simply do not care about you and your problems straight up is so mean and untrue. the gods are not black and white beings you can intepret so easily on your own terms.
kharis is important, amd building a proper bond and being consistent in your faith is important, but just because someone is new to their deities and paganism does not mean that their deities do not care abt them and that they have to wait years on building kharis with them to even be acknowleged. this is a religion, a faith. this is supposed to be a safe space for believers, especially considering how little there are of us to followers of the abrahamic religion. and yet here we are discouraging eachother more and making the deities seem like evil nonchalant creatures who only care abt the divine and divine issues only. what is wrong w the pagan community on tiktok???
