"This green country. Older than itself. The depths of its forest magic never spent. Watching us, mere people, come and go, come and go, come and go.” - The Last Enchantments
So I finished listening to the MLB Ringer Podcast with Kevin Falls...
...and it sounds like the Amelia/Mike thing was pretty divisive from the EPs down to the writers, but the network and studio really liked it. Personally, I’d argue that’s why networks and studios get to pay for shows but not make shows, but whatevs. He did mention episode 2 and her infertility, but didn’t really go into how they’d get around that.
The hosts and Kevin both talked about Bawson and the desire to move away from it, how Mike would spend time with Rachel, and how Ginny would be with Noah or alone. This I’m honestly into/okay with. I like the idea of Bawson but I’m more into Ginny and her development--putting Bawson on the back burner while the mentor/mentee relationship grows during her recovery is interesting to me. I totally support Ginny holding her ground and not crossing that line while they’re teammates. Plus, SLOW BURNS ARE GREAT.
They really wanted Ginny to take a rookie under her wing--and for that rookie to be gay. WHAT AN AMAZING STORY I WANT IT, I WANT IT NOW. Also there was more they wanted to do (in season 1) with Will that they didn’t get to do, which I’m curious about.
Basically I’m bitter because they obviously had a lot of ideas and a lot of plans and UGHHH. He did say that Fox wanted to bring the show back and they tried, but since baseball is so American it was hard to sell the show abroad and make back some of their money. The podcast ep is definitely worth a listen, he talks about things they’d do differently around promotion and advertising--and the episode description includes time stamps if you want to skip ahead.
