Out of touch for a few days is never a bad thing, especially if it's in #yellowstonenationalpark Spent this morning at Lamar Valley (pictured here, look closely for lots of Bison) and by noon me and my good friends and #roadtrip buddies @danieljcronin and @theredefiners had accomplished a triple dog day, spotting a coyote, wolves and a red fox!! Anyone else missing a little bit of this these days? Not only does the fall bring beautiful colors to our landscape, but it brings what is referred to as the "rut", and there's nothing quite like watching a bull elk put on his best mating display @rockynps. In addition to bugling and sparing with other bulls, the males will display their strength to onlooking cows by rubbing their massive antlers on trees, shrubs and bushes. This handsome bull had an impressive harem following and put on a great show us to enjoy. So for this #wildlifewednesday I wanted to share a photo of a White-Tailed deer yearling I snapped a few weeks ago at the Environmental Learning Center in Fort Collins. This yearling was super curious about me as I was hiding in a embankment watching her and her sibling and mother enjoying a beautiful evening. I love this photo as she was using the branches to hide from me, and would take a peek every few minutes to make sure I wasn't getting too close. So for this #wildlifewednesday I've decided to post a none wild animal, but one that should be. This weekend I took a trip to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, CO with my friends @danieljcronin and @theredefiners to check out this awesome place. Their mission is to take in exotic carnivores that were either confiscated, abandoned, mistreated, etc, and cannot be returned to the wild as they've lived their lives in captivity. I'm addition to the handsome lion in this picture, you can find tigers, bears, wolves, foxes, etc. It's great to see a place like this working so hard to give these animals a chance at a good life instead of them having to be put down.
