HELLO HI!! thank you! here is a tiny snippet from a WIP in which KimChay have to speedrun their reconciliation era after Chay, in an attempt to avoid running into Vegas, accidentally locks himself in a storage closet that Kim had also already been hiding from Chay in🫣

Oh, this is bad. This is somehow, impossibly, immeasurably worse than bumping into Vegas.

He tries the door again.

“Yeah, it’s still locked,” Kim mutters dryly. They’re so close together he might as well be whispering in Chay’s ear.

Chay whips around to face him - or at least, he tries to. Turning is difficult and uncomfortable, especially when he’s trying to touch as little of Kim as possible. His arms drag against Kim’s torso as he turns, his legs pressing awkwardly against Kim’s as he stumbles for footing.

He puts as much malice as possible into the glare he shoots him to make up for it. “Thank you, Phi, for your help.”

Kim shrugs. Chay feels the movement of it against his chest. It’s a stab at disinterest, but Chay knows Kim better now. This air of haughty, detached indifference is as fake as every other part of Kim; part of the calculated smokescreen of lies and deception that makes up his entire personality. But Chay’s not falling for any of it anymore. He’s smarter now. He’s learned not to believe anything Kim allows him to see.

Chests pressed almost flush together, Chay can feel the frantic pounding of Kim’s heart.

There, at least, is something that he can’t fake.

“You’re nervous.”

Status Conference

“Remember, class we have a mock trial on Monday, so please be here on time and ready to go! Oh and Ms. Kittisawat, I need to speak with you at my desk.” Kim said as she dismissed the class.

Chay smiled, as she slowly packed away her books and laptop, while waiting for the class to file out of the lecture hall. Everyone was too focused on their own term papers to pay any attention to the wicked look Kim was giving the girl in the front row who had been sitting in a skirt with her legs spread wide. Kim could tell you exactly what every little detail of print was on her students underwear. To say there were a few mishaps during lecture that a few students called her out on was an understatement.

Only half way through the year and Kim could recount almost every single type of underwear her student has worn.

60. where is the most dangerous place you've written fic?

Ahaha, honestly? Probably in my teens on my family's desktop computer. It was in a Microsoft Word document, I think? Just some really bad way-too-young-to-be-writing-this fanfic. It was the early 2000's and the desktop was centered in a the livingroom where you could walk by and see the screen at any time. Any time at all! And family had no clue, somehow, but maybe that's because it was like 2001 and they weren't worried about anything but me being in weird chat rooms lol

70. are you very critical of your own writing?

Yes, horribly so. I'm constantly editing as I write (though I've been much better about it since I started sprinting), and then edit a great deal before publishing. I go back and forth between thinking my writing is try-hard and purple and stupid and thinking that it's actually pretty good, but I think my main worry is that I'm a decent writer, but not a good storyteller, if that makes sense? The actual writing itself isn't bad, but I lose faith in my ability to tell an overarching story, and that leads me to a lot of edits as well.

80. do you try to put themes, motifs, messages, morals, etc into your writing? if so, how do you go about it?

Yes, absolutely. I almost beat them to death in my stories lol. I'm pretty obvious about them, and they're usually adapted into how the characters think. For example, in Harmony's Overture (and the whole of In Three Movements) music is a major part of how the three of them think and interact because it's so intrinsic to them. Music lends to the theme acceptance and stepping fearfully out of isolation, because music itself is so profound in what it offers us - not only catharsis and comfort, but the community it brings. It worked well for the theme of found family, in this case their individual notes becoming chords, played together not to change them, but to make them exist as something more together. Wounds and sickness also runs through the entire series as a commentary on not only how we perceive ourselves, but how we have to open ourselves to healing hands if we want to feel and be better - and that sometimes the illness is incurable, but you're allowed to breathe and be loved anyway. And I get heavy-handed with religious imagery with VegasPete, for obvious reasons lol. I'm digressing lol, moving on.

90. do you notice your own voice in your writing style?

In dialogue, sometimes, especially when it's banter or chit-chat. As far as prose/internal monologue I bleed so much of my actual self and the emotions around my experiences into my writing that it's hard not to see some of that reflected back at me, though I think I'm pretty good at becoming the character when I write them. (I think that's what this as asking? Lol)

So to be honest, I'd read a bunch of MacauChay and enjoyed it, but was really wanting to explore Kim, and KimChay didn't quite have me by the collar enough to explore them. I also wanted to explore Macau for a lot of different reasons, so I landed on writing KimMacau. But I actually felt kind of sad leaving Chay in the dust, so I wasn't sure exactly what to do there. KimMacau truly began because I got eaten alive by this idea I had in a discord server that 6-year-age-gap Kim and Macau had been besties when they were younger, until Kim got VERY weird about it and yeeted himself out of Macau's life (breaking his sad little wet cat cousin's heart). I wanted to write a really twisted Kim, but I didn't want to write about him hurting people he loves by being toxic in the traditional(?) way - and that in combination with me feeling bad about Chay being left in the dust had me making a way for him to be very much a part of the story. After the end of part 1, part 2 erupted out of me because I just wanted to see what could happen between that version of Kim, this lonely and depressed version of Macau, and this twisted up, damaged, conflicted version of Chay. As for other throuples, so to speak, I think I just never quite vibed? I'd been so obsessed with VegasPete and couldn't really find anyone I wanted to put them with... And then somehow, when that original KimMacau story nagged at me forever, I decided this would be THE route haha.

Do you make your bed?

No, but tbh I wish I did. It makes it looks so much nicer in my room? Mr. Pete (cat) also enjoys sleeping on it more when it's made...

What’s your favourite number?

21, probably, but that's likely because I make a lot of 1:20 dilutions for a dilution factor of 21 haha

What’s your job?

I run tests on blood and pee and evaluate the results for any pre-analytical/analytical/post-analytical errors and anything else that could be affecting the accuracy of the test results. I also maintain and troubleshoot problems with the machines that perform testing. No one knows I exist lmao.

If you could go back to school would you?

Yes, but there are a thousand things stopping me, on being my mortgage lmao.

Can you parallel park?

Yep!

A job that would surprise people?

I'm... not a million percent sure what this question means, but if it was with regards to something that I did that surprised people whether real job or imagined, then it would be something heavy in math.

Do you think aliens are real?

There's no way they aren't!

Can you drive a manual car?

Probably not at this point, though I drove a few in my teens

General comeuppances for people who have desperately needed them lol.

Tattoos?

Two! One a symbol I designed myself with the message "I will survive to live again" located on my left inner forearm, and another that is similar to Changkyun of Monsta X's smiley tattoo, which is very simple and looks like this : ) : located on my right wrist over my radial artery (where arterial blood gas samples are drawn)

Favourite colour?

I love color so much, it's honestly hard to pick. I think these days it's in the scope of light aqua all the way down to ultramarine.

Favourite type of music?

Kpop and myriad sub-genres (Monsta X and OnlyOneOf are my ult groups), pop punk, atlernative, southern rock, rock

Do you like puzzles?

LOVE Puzzles. All kinds of puzzles. You need a puzzle beaten for your game? GIVE ME.

Still terrible at sudoku though. Probably related to fear of Math.

Any phobias?

Long squiggly bugs and the slimey no-bones one that live in the soil that I legit cannot even say the word without feeling ill. Anything that doesn't have bones and is slimy.

Karate.

Do you talk to yourself?

I worked night shifts alone in the lab and it was just me and the ghost. I didn't not want to talk to the ghost. That habit has carried over lol.
