Lilith

Looking at Anna's small curled up form on the screen, Lilith felt acid rise from her stomach again. She knew this was what had to be done. That she needed to keep going. But gods was it hard.

'I don't want to do this.' her small scared voice whimpered in her mind.

'Well, suck it up, buttercup. No one else is going to except you.' her harsher colder voice snapped back.

So she straightened her shoulders, wiped any lingering emotions off her face, and turned to enter the room.

"Wakey wakey, Honey-bun. Time to start training."

Day 26: What's a trope you love that deserves more attention?

This may sound odd, but re-capture arcs. Or re-tramatization arcs. Like, I personally love it when it's not just One Thing in Whumpee's life that happens to them. Maybe it's because I've loved book series and tv series/shows a lot growing up and still do, but like, characters, while fictional, still have lives that grow and change and move along. So why just One Big Whump Event when you can have several?

Anna

She whimpered and tried to thrash away from someone grabbing her arms.

"Hey, hey, it's okay, it's just me. It's Greg." She would have sobbed in relief if she could get air in her lungs again. "You're safe, Anna. We've got you. He's dead."

Her vision was blurry, so she could only feel the strangeness as he picked her up off the stained mattress. Her head fell against his shoulder. Air brushed against her hair as he brought her up the stairs. She could hear a mix of voices and shuffling growing louder above and around them.

She couldn't open her eyes more than a sliver, wincing as the bright light stabbed at them.

"Lil-...th. Lil...th?" Her tongue was thick in her mouth, the drugs still too strong.

Greg didn't answer her. Did he hear her?

Then she was being put down again, this time on something both hard and soft. Tears built up in her closed eyes as straps went over her body.

"They're taking you to the hospital, Anna. We'll be right behind you, promise."

His warm hand squeezed hers before whatever she was strapped to was picked up and moved.

Every time she tried to open her eyes, the light hurt. The sounds hurt. Everything hurt.

Something was fixed to her face, warm air soothing against her aching lungs. She gulped it in gratefully. Her breaths evened out until she finally fell asleep.

Day 23: How did you end up joining the whump community?

Oh... I don't really know anymore, tbh, lol. Like, it's been a while. XD Long enough for me to forget details, anyway.

I know I always knew of whump as a concept, but discovering the community was new to me. My old friends in high school used to (somewhat light-heartedly) tease me for always making my OCs suffer instead of "giving them a break" and like, I get it, lol, but I also like to write what makes me happy. So seeing I wasn't alone? Major game changer.

My old whump side blog I guess I'd say was my official joining the community, but I'd say actually becoming more a part of it and interacting with folks properly came some months after that. Maybe even because of/with Whumpmas in July last year. Like, I was afraid to reach out to anyone without them reaching out to me first, so a lot of the time, I still felt kind of on my own. Now I've met so many wonderful people and I'm very happy and grateful for that. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I very much hope that the friends I've made this past year in this community I'll keep in touch with for as long as we're able.

Author's note: so this one's a bit of a major spoiler so I did my best to keep it somewhat vague; anyway, this one fits Checkhov's Gun trope because Lilith keeps her gun in her desk, but rarely uses it for its intended purpose outside of target practice; she takes the gun to bring with her before this scene here

Lilith

She saw him over Anna and didn't think. All she knew was she needed to get him off her.

So that's what she did.

She raised her gun.

Dad always praised her for having true aim.

Hopefully he still thought so after this.

Author's note: catching up on WiJ entries, so gonna be more out of order again; this is when Lilith is making Anna her pet

Anna

She shrank back against the wall as Lilith approached, her breaths coming fast and hard. "No, please, don't-"

Her words were cut off as Lilith gripped her jaw.

"Look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way." Lilith's voice was cold, her dark eyes set on Anna's. "Your choice."

Sobbing, Anna stopped resisting, letting Lilith fit the gas mask over her face. She choked on the smoke as it filled her mouth and nose. It filled her lungs fast, the sensation of the drugs hitting her system all at once not long after. Nausea made her feel sea-sick as she swayed in place, her thoughts slipping from her grasp.

Arms wrapped around her as she sank down, fingers running through her hair.

Faintly, she heard Lilith speak above her. "That's my good girl. Such a good girl. We'll get you all fixed up and presentable in no time. Don't you worry, I'll take care of everything. You just keep being my good girl..."

She felt like she should be afraid. She should be afraid, shouldn't she?

But all she felt was comforting warmth as the drug's smoke took her down, down, down...
