Emraan Hashmi seems to be heading the Saif Ali Khan way. And at lower levels, the Shahrukh Khan way. He is breaking away from the image of a serial kisser and trying to do content based films. Although he pulls off the role with aplomb in Why Cheat India, there sadly wouldn't be many takers for this film. Emraan always has been a phenomenal actor who has largely done tripe films that have worked at the box office. Why Cheat Indis isn't that film. It doesn't play to the gallery and has none of the typical Emraan Hashmi things. But it is a film that must be watched. It throws the spotlight on the corruption that plagues our educational system and how competition is becoming a power game. Shreya Dhanvantry in her debut film sparkles and has many layers to her character. Snighadeep Chatterjee as Sattu portrays the struggles of an aspiring engineering student well. Director Soumik Sen who made the largely ineffective Gulaab Gang makes a strong statement with Why Cheat India. But the film belongs to Emraan Hashmi who delivers one clap trap dialogue after another. Walk in with minimal expectations and you may be pleasantly surprised! . .
