#whump comminity

For those who have OC's (or those who write about canon characters, also fun!), I have some questions for you!

Have/would they ever torture someone?

What is their biggest fear?

What is something that would make them break?

Do they cry easily?

What is something that gives them comfort, even in the worst moments?

Would they sacrifice themselves for a loved one?

How easy is it to convince them of something that isn't true?

What was their darkest moment?

What was their happiest moment?

So I'm having this talk with a friend about whump. I obviously love whump and spend a lot of time in the community. To me, a tag with 'whump' is just the promise of hurt, and it can be a massive range of how or what type (emotional, physical, torture, sick fic, etc etc)

They're not often looking for anything whumpy, and to them, the whump tag is used when it's 'serious' hurt. The character breaks, gets tortured, it has to be the focus of the story, it's really intense. They 'don't want to disappoint people looking for whump'.

As a whump lover, I wish more people used the whump tag on 'smaller' whump, too. I also use the other tags to give me an idea of what will happen.

So I'm wondering. How do you use the tag? (Tumblr, ao3). What do you expect when seeing it?
