It’s somehow already time again to talk about posting!

This year we’re going to be organising it a bit differently, so that all fics get their chance to shine, so please read this post carefully. We will also be sending out emails so everyone knows which category each fic falls into and when your posting window will be.

Writers:

Fics that are being posted in 3 or less chapters, including one-shots: You will need to post your fic between 1st Nov-6th Nov. Within that window it doesn’t matter when exactly you post, as long as the whole thing is posted by the end of Nov 6th.

Fics that are being posted in 4 or more chapters: You will be posting from Nov 7th onwards. You don’t need to start posting on the 7th but all fics must be completely posted by November 30th at the very latest.

All fics must be submitted to the WHOB 2022 Collection on AO3 so that the Mods can easily find it. There’s no set format for posting about it on Tumblr.

Artists:

You will be posting when your writer does. If you have multiple artworks those can be spaced out over the posting period, and if a piece of art is a spoiler for a later chapter you can wait until that chapter is posted. All art must be posted by the end of the posting period for the fic. (You will receive an email for each collaboration which details the posting period.)

Art may be posted on AO3, Tumblr or any other platform that works for you, but a link/links to all artworks must be supplied to the Mods once you have posted everything. This is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT so we can create the Masterposts once posting is complete, as well as making sure you get full credit for all your art when it comes to awarding medals.

You will need to email winterhawkolympicbang at gmail.com with links to each piece of art so we can check them off and include them in the Masterposts.

This year you will also need to send us a cropped or small version of your favourite piece for each fic you are working on, to be added to the Masterpost to show off your incredible talent. This should be in the form of a 400x400 pixel square so we can fit it on the post and can be either a sized down version of the entire piece, or a cropped section of it (probably best if the art is NSFW). Please make sure we know which of your art links relates to that particular piece if you have done more than one for a fic.

Please send all your links and the 400x400 image to us as soon as everything for that particular fic is posted, which at the very latest will be November 6th for fics with 3 chapters or less, or November 30th for fics with more chapters. If we don’t have your art image and links for the Masterposts, we cannot guarantee all your art will be featured.

Everyone:

Do discuss how you prefer posting with those you’re collaborating with, and listen to how they want to go about getting your work all up together. If you want to make Tumblr posts with links to all of the related works, go ahead, we’re happy for people to do whatever works for them as long as everyone involved is happy with it.

The Mods will be making Tumblr Masterposts for each fic and all art associated with it, which will all be posted after the posting period ends. These will include the medals that you have all earned with your hard work. We will also email these to everyone who is eligible for them.

Anything not posted by November 30th will not be included in the Masterposts.

There will be no exceptions. Completed art for any fics that aren’t finished will still be included, and the artist will still get the medals they are due, but the fic itself won’t be included.

Each fic is an Olympic Event, so you will earn medals based on the piece/s you create for that fic. We won’t be combining multiple artworks for multiple fics into a single Medal. If you do four art pieces for Fic A you will earn a gold medal for fic A, and if you do two art pieces for Fic B you will earn Bronze for Fic B.

Artist-artist collaborations are allowed and encouraged, and if two or more artists collaborate on one art piece that is sufficiently complex to earn a medal (has multiple characters, a complex background, etc.) then a medal will be awarded to all the artists who contributed.

Fate has it out for Clint Barton.

After a few too many heartbreaks, he's given up looking for his Soulmate; who needs happily ever after anyway? He’s perfectly content with his dog, his job, guarding eccentric billionaires, and drinking Natasha’s contraband vodka. Just ask anyone.

So he doesn’t think anything about inviting a random sex worker home for coffee to get him out of the cold - no need for any special company, thanks - because that’s just the decent thing to do. But when he keeps meeting Bucky again and again, it’s not fate he’s gotta worry about, it’s his heart.

 Bucky’s just living his life. He’s got work he doesn’t hate, a degree program he loves, and and a side project out to prove Green Arrow's archery antics aren't possible outside the comics. He’ll meet his Soulmate when the time is right, but for now he’s content to wait.

But then his roommate pulls a Breaking Bad, leaving him caught up in an NYPD investigation, out of his regular work, and scrambling for a place to stay where his demon-cat won’t get them both evicted. Before he knows it, Clint is turning his whole life turned upside down, and Bucky thinks fate shouldn’t be tempting him.

My @winterhawk-olympic-bang fic is finally posting! I had an absolute blast working with both @roboratto and @drgrlfriend as artists for this event, and this first chapter is your first look at their amazing work! 

There Will Be No Linking of Arms, Skipping, or Singing

Riding in a tornado is not as much fun as one thinks it might be. For one, it is really windy. For two, weird things can be seen inside of them. For three, they can drop a person off in a really weird world filled with mysterious redheads, tortured souls, annoying robots, Jolly Green Giant's angry cousin, and so much more.

But hey, there are some fabulous boots. Too bad there is a scary dude who is willing to kill for them.

Clint and Lucky's wild journey through a land called Marvel.

and @drgrlfriend requested some background on A Muscle The Size Of Your Fist! I am very very happy to oblige, I could talk about that fic for days. 

the songs I had on repeat while writing this (but didn’t include in the in-story playlists because they were anachronistic) were “Your Heart Is A Muscle The Size Of Your Fist” aka the title track, by Ramshackle Glory; “I Was A Teenage Anarchist” by Against Me!; and “Normal” by the Homeless Gospel Choir. 

Bucky eventually gets a biomech-style partial sleeve tattoo of the Winter Soldier arm, which Steve designs to incorporate his scars. (for anybody who hasn’t read the fic: in it, Captain America & the Winter Soldier is a comic book that Steve and Bucky have been writing/drawing together since they were kids. Cap’s story is an allegory for Steve’s coming out as transgender, and the fall/brainwashing/metal arm is Bucky’s way of writing about his depression/suicide attempt.) 

Frank’s story is that he was the original singer of a legendary punk band - think Henry Rollins/Black Flag - until Russo screwed him over and kicked him out. he is in fact dating both Matt and Karen. 

the first time I talked about this fic “out loud” was with @noxnthea in November 2021, a full year before I posted it, but before that, I was fiddling with the basic idea of “new kid in town processes anger issues through punk” as a Sam Winchester gen ficlet; it didn’t really work in that form, so I shelved it. then I went through like three different overall setups, starting with everybody being in high school, before it took its final shape.

the relationship between Clint and Steve was by far the hardest part of the fic for me to write. 

there is the start of a deleted scene somewhere in which Steve makes Clint his very own battle vest as a belated birthday present. it’s purple. I should go find that scene and finish it.

My Heart Will be Your Home by Dr.Girlfriend

Summary: Four years after the Battle of New York, Clint has created a stable life for himself and his young daughter, free of the dangers of SHIELD work. The Winter Soldier turned himself in to the Avengers, expecting a death sentence or lifetime of imprisonment.  Instead, he found absolution and an invitation to join the team.  He is still adjusting to life as an Avenger when he meets Clint Barton and his daughter.  The young man that Bucky Barnes used to be was wholeheartedly enthusiastic about meeting his soulmate, but Bucky is not sure there’s a place for him in his soulmate’s life anymore.  Clint has spent his whole life dreading meeting his soulmate, drawing false conclusions from the hurtful words that were spoken in haste.  They are both drawn to each other and are willing to give this a try, but will have to work together to overcome the shadows of their past. Excerpt: It’s one of the largest soulmarks Bucky has ever seen.  The script in Bucky’s neat cursive handwriting starts at the crest of one shoulder and arcs below Clint’s collarbones to end at the crest of the other shoulder, golden letters that no tattoo ink has ever been able to replicate.   What kind of idiot are you?
