One brown, white, and orange annular ware waste bowl was found during 2006 excavations of an early 1830s-1840s privy in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. It has alternating white and orange stripes below the rim and near the base, with brown and white stripes alternating in a wavy pattern in the main part of the bowl. The base is white. This bowl is about 3¼ inches tall and 6¼ inches in diameter at the rim and is probably circa 1840 whiteware. No maker’s mark or stamp is evident.

This light blue transfer print bowl and saucer were found during the 2006 excavations of an early 1830s-1840s privy in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Both have the maker’s mark “Greyhound” on the bottom. The center scene on both the saucer and the inside of the bowl shows a light-colored greyhound standing and a dark-colored greyhound lying down among some bushes and flowers. In the background is a tree, and in the far background are a river and a building on a hill. Surrounding the center scene is a honeycomb design. Above that design is a series of leaves nested in alternating dark and light dots. Above that is a scrolling design. The saucer is about 5¾ inches in diameter at the rim. Nearly 40 percent of the bowl is missing, but it is about 6¼ inches in diameter at the rim and just over 3 inches tall. No information could be found about the “Greyhound” design or the maker’s mark.

This juvenile whiteware cup with blue transfer print was found during the 2006 excavation of an early 1840s–1860s privy in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  The cup shows a boy waving his arms in the air while standing on a railroad track. His hat is above his head, held in one hand. To the right, a train is heading towards the boy. Some people are visible to the left, in the background. It appears that the boy is trying to warn the train that the track is out ahead. This cup has no maker’s mark on the bottom. It is about 2¾ inches tall and 2½ inches wide at the base. The rim is too fragmentary to measure the diameter.
