Varieties  of acne and its features
Approximately 9.4% of the world population have acne. Acne also vary in shape, size, colour and its severity. According to these criteria there are different types of Acne, divided into six types:
Whiteheads generally happen when pores are clogged all the way by the oil or dead cells. It looks like a white bump because the head of the pore is closed giving it a whitish look. It is suggested not to pop them as they may leave scars. Instead of popping it is recommended to try homemade remedies or take available medicines. They may heal your whiteheads without any scarring and prevent them from taking the worst shape.Â
Blackheads are black version of whiteheads. They have the same feature, treatment and development reason except that their head is black in colour because of the open head which exposes it to air. The air makes the head black in colour.
Papules are a bit severe from blackheads and whiteheads. Papules develop when the pore clogged by oil and cells get mixed with bacteria. Now if there is bacteria trapped it means it is prone to inflammation and give a reddish hue to it. They are pus filled and generally small in size. It is very important to note that these acne should not be popped or burst at any cost as if they burst the pus and bacteria in it spilled and infect the other areas resulting in more and more acne. Benzoyl peroxide is highly used for treating papules.Â
This is another twin pair with a bit change in feature that unlike Papules Pustules doesn’t have yellowish pus in it. Pustules have white small bump Centre and are surrounded by red inflamed skin. They are usually found in clusters. Just like papules don’t burst pustules which will let the bacteria escape and lead to more outburst. One can take antibiotics to get rid of the bacteria.Â
Nodular acne is counted as a very severe and stubborn kind acne. They are deeply rooted under the skin and large in size with reddish flesh. These are results because of the infection deep down the skin underneath caused by the trapped bacteria. It is recommended to see a dermatologist for help as if medicine doesn’t work he will help you with therapies like laser or chemical peel.
Cystic acne is recognized as the most severe form of acne. Like nodule cysts, acne is also a result of an infection deep within the skin. However the most effective differentiation is that cystic acne is pus filled unlike nodules which don't have any pus. Cystic acne is mostly painful in nature and red in colour because of the inflammation. You need a dermatologist to heal cystic acne properly.
