Earlier in the day, I saw this young White-crowned Sparrow just... sitting there. Observing and looking around. It was pretty cold outside, too. There was just SOMETHING about its breast and stomach that was just so... pleasing. So soft... so round. So smooth and light! :)
There’s just something about the shape of the body and the way he turned his head that is just SO GOOD.
Once ONE Lesser Goldfinch finds its way to the watering hole... you can be sure the rest will follow! Poor White-crowned Sparrow did not seem very happy that tis bath time was being intruded upon, but I think the Lesser Goldfinches were so excited for a communal bath time!

White-crowned Sparrow Zonotrichia leucophrys This bird is the one that I see around my feeder and bath the most often. They love to puff up and fluff themselves after a bath! Adults have developed bold black and white stripes on their heads. Juveniles (like the one in the seen bathing) have reddish brown and off white stripes. More Info @ AllAboutBirds.org
