It had been a few months since the attempt to communicate with the Canadian government. Still Nichole was seen as a refugee escaping Gilead, she wouldn't be returning home any time soon. As much as the news sadden Serena, a new set of new had come forth to grasp her attention. She was with child, she was pregnant and the baby was healthy. This was something she had to tell Mary about. A bouquet was made and sent over to the Christensen household. An unwritten invitiation to join Serena for tea the next day. And so, here they were. ❛ I've got wonderful news, Mary. By the grace of God, I've been blessed. ❜ A hand comes to rest upon her midriff, ❛ I'm with child. ❜
It seemed to be one of those nights where Robert was unable of keeping track of himself. He had a vague awareness of how many drinks he had (a lot), but could barely keep up with the noise of the bar. All he could focus on was the ugly feeling that swirled through his chest, the need to say something about the thoughts that he had gotten lost in. “Joseph is an asshole.”
Maybe it was not the best idea to get into that topic with Mary. They had talked about Joseph before, of course, and he knew that Mary could sense that something was up between the two of them. But could he get away with complaining about his ex... Whatever Joseph had been when she didn’t actually know? / sc. - @whinemcm
@whinemcm asked: "I don't want to do this anymore".
Joseph almost looked like he had no idea where that could be coming from. Like they hadn't be fighting over the smallest things for longer they could remember.
As he turned to look at her wife standing in the kitchen doorway though, a simple glance at the strained smile on his face revealed he knew very well what she meant.
He just pretended he didn't, removing his apron and forcing out a small chuckle.
"We knew the twins would be hard to handle once they figured out how to stand on their own feet. Don't worry, I'll take care of their mess...you...uh, just keep an eye on the dinner, it's already in the oven".
starter ( trina levi. ): @whinemcm
She sat at the bar. She sat at the bar for the first time since... Since forever. Since Marvin told her that he expected dinner ready, and that she be home to attend to him. Not his words exactly, but his meaning.
Because Trina, always pronounced wrong when spelled out plainly, was there to watch Jason. Since their apartment off the 104, with the crooked wallpaper and Marvin's attitude. His idea that she was there to serve, even if he tried to make it sound like she was there to collaborate. It wasn't a collaboration. She quit her secretary job for him. To raise Jason, their son. 10 years old and wicked smart. His Bar Mitzvah was coming up soon. Soon enough to think about. Trina was unsure if she wanted to think about it. She'd have to spend time with Marvin.
The bar scene was so different from when she was in college. When she and Marvin went once or twice because he wanted a beer and she could take a small bit of rosé. Trina walked to the counter when she got there and say, waiting for the bar tender. He helped her figure out a drink, one to nurse lightly. She had alcohol. Lots of it. Back during her marriage. It was what sustained her. Kept her sane by losing a small bit of her mind.
There's a woman at the bar. A few seats down. And perhaps it was loneliness? Maybe the drink? TrinA goes to sit by her. She looks... Exhausted. And Trina knows that look well wears it herself with as much artificial pride as she can muster. "Rough day?" Trina asks, a friendly smile on her face. "Erm, would you let me buy you a drink? As a friend, of course. Or, and acquaintence. You just... Look like you could use it."

❛ Y’know, I think I’m genuinely runnin’ outta’ shows t’ watch. ❜
@whinemcm liked for Dream Daddy verse Dean
“ Yeah, I know, what the hell am I doing at a pub on a Monday night? ” Dean asked. Usually he’d be working on one of his sculptures or hanging out with his stepson. Still relatively new in Maple Bay since his divorce, the artist didn’t often go out and about or even meet up with the other dads who lived across the town. It was unusual that such a large cluster of dads lived in one area, whereas Dean and Hogarth lived on the outskirts by the woods. “ My ex-wife’s got custody this week so I’m trying to drink up some inspiration. My dad’s Irish so it runs in my blood. ”
@whinemcm continued from here
Lucien quirmed slightly in his seat, nervously picking at his eyebrow piercing, twisting it around, and almost loosening the top of it, as he figured out how to say this the best way.
❝ you know that kid in my class, Jamie, whose mom is a real fucking Karen? He’s been on my ass ever since he found out I’m the only kid in that school who doesn’t take his and his weird mom’s crap, so he’s been trying to antagonize me over a week now. ❞
❝ I finally had enough, and punched the little shit in his face, and either he’s like really weak, or he faked it, because once second hes pissing me off, the next hes falling down a fucking staircase, screaming that I’m trying to murder him. Of course that causes a fucking scene, and the little shithead is screaming how He needs to call his mom to get me kicked out of the school so he can feel safe. ❞ he finished the story, groaning at the sheer stupidity.
❝ I got the hell out of there before he could scream and cry his way to the principal’s office, but if his mom is as psycho as I know she is, she’ll probably get me fucking sent to juvie or some shit. ❞
