Exactly!!! Last night I was like โummm maybe it is just me being delusional. After all, every team has backup plans that isnโt anything new and itโs not a BAD thing for a team to doโ but to receive confirmation that yeah they kinda didnโt think Oscar was gonna do that well to the point of keeping Alex (and Pato) waiting like that and making promises like thatโฆ.. yeah
And itโs like, whatโs worse: them not thinking Piastri was gonna last in F1 or them knowing Piastri was indeed gonna be with them for the long term and STILL promising F1 to both Alex and Pato (to the point they had to increase Patoโs salary to keep him at Arrow McLaren)
This statement is also confirmation that Zak Brown was never really FULLY on board with Oscar joining the team. I think thatโs the most damning part. This, plus the conflict of interest of Brown with him being CEO of Landoโs personal business up until JULY THIS YEAR + him being a majority shareholder in that same businessโฆ..wellโฆ.
Obviously we donโt know the full picture and timelines and who said what and whatever but where thereโs smoke thereโs fire. At the end of the day though, McLaren and Brown trying to sue Alex for $30M in damages for their own fuck up is crazy. What really baffles me is that the $30M figure includes the salary increase to Pato OโWard like thatโs nuts.

honestly i think the worst part abt having had mental illness my entire life is i have so little hope for it to truly get better. no matter how much progress i make, how much effort i put in to overcoming my obstacles, it can always creep up on me. and the better i feel the worse i always end up relapsing. it's exhausting tbh
