Microcode is a low-level programming language that tells the CPU what to do. Itβs difficult for humans to read but easy for computers since it is just a stream of numbers and letters.
Microcode can be used in two ways: instructions for the computer to execute or as data storage.
Microcode has been around before integrated circuits were invented, so Microcode was very limited by how much information could be stored in it because there was no way of storing more than one piece of data at once.
