Dynamic Duo Dynamics
Hello all. Looks like the "Dynamic Duo" have shown up on MyFace recently. (What's up with needing to plaster your information all over the Internet anyways?)
These girls seem to be a one-trick pony so far--all of their costume wins revolve around that Cake Mix show and the thousands of different outfits the main characters have.
So baby birds, I have a challenge for you. Find me a photo of the Dynamic Duo cosplaying as anything BUT Cake Mix and we'll see what I can do for you.

Trouble in Paradise?
Baby birds, I have a doozy for you all today.
Sources told me they saw a prominent couple in the cosplay community fighting at a movie theater last Friday night. My source didn't want to get too close, but from what it looked like from across the lobby the gentleman was not very pleased with his lady love, and left the theater without giving her a ride home. My source says she had to call a friend to pick her up.
Dear children, as much as I appreciate drama happening in a building with an ample supply of popcorn, perhaps move any domestic disputes to a more private location next time?

Social Media in Cosplay: The JERKboard
Okay, let's be honest--if you're a cosplayer, you know all the good (and bad) places to go for drama online. Sure, there are obscure reference images to find and the majority of posters can be very lovely and helpful, but then the drama gets posted and the gossiping starts.
If you don't know where to go for these things, I wish I had your innocence (please don't lose it! It's not worth it!).
So, as unfortunate as it is, we needed a place in our story for our cosplayers to experience the same situations us cosplayers in real life experience. Thus, the JERKboard was born.
When WG4K cosplayed, there was a pretty popular site that did exactly what the JERKboard does--it posts the round of photos from conventions, and a ton of people would comment on certain cosplayers, which would inevitably lead to drama being brought up. The JERKboard was based on this forum, because as positive as the community could be, they could get downright nasty too, and it lent itself to some pretty powerful storytelling.
Thankfully, the website doesn't exist anymore. It also wasn't run by an elusive figure who seemed to know everything about everyone (that I know of!), so we have taken a few liberties to make our JERKboard seem a bit more exciting for the sake of the story.
Good dish for you
Alrighty everyone, I'm back with some more information for you on the new girl.
So one of my birds told me that the new girl has massively bad stage fright. They have a friend of a friend that actually works with the girl and somehow she's involved with the drama department at her school. Guess every time she's been asked to pull her weight on stage, she opts to go hide in wardrobe.
So tell me this: how did little miss "I'm so afraid of people looking at me" even get up on stage at EmotiCON and perform her cheerleaderesque chant for all of our ears? Seems a bit fishy to me. What do you all think?

Con Season: Told Through Transmedia Storytelling
Hello everyone! Evali taught me something new recently about how we're telling the story of Con Season. She explained to me that we are telling our story through Transmedia Storytelling. Here's the wikipedia article on it, but long story short it's a way to tell a story through different sorts of mediums. Each piece is independent of one another, but together they create a fuller picture of the story. A good example of this is the Matrix series, since it had the movies telling the main story, but there were a ton of animated shorts that gave anything from background information to character side stories.
When we started planning Con Season, we didn't plan to tell our story like this--it just sort of developed naturally. We knew we had Lexi's story to tell, but as more characters became larger than life, we just knew we needed to tell some of their stories as well. Plus, cosplay is nothing without social media, so we thought we could use Tumblr to post in-character information from a character named Skylark411.
I'll go into more detail for each piece of storytelling you see (and should expect to see!). We have so much planned!
Miko, Allison, and I want to thank everyone who was able to see us at AWA! We really enjoyed talking to all the fans, and we hope you continue to enjoy the comic in the years to come!
From Script to Comic Page: Editing the Script
After the first draft of the script is written, we upload it to Google Documents and share it with one another so we can start editing!
This is the fun part, because the script has only been seen by one person at this point, so as the others start to comment, it's fun to see if they react to the funny and shocking lines like you were hoping for.
There is a rule though: Allison does not get to view all of the scripts. She is allowed to see two chapters ahead in the plot, so that she doesn't get distracted wanting to draw something too far from where she's at!
The script is constantly changing at this point, as ideas are added into the script, or we leave comments trying to figure out if something is actually going to work or if we should cut it completely.
So while all of you were enjoying Chapter 1, all of this (plus more!) was going on in the background in our Google Documents:
This script is very close to what the final is on the comic page. Allison has final say in anything that goes, so if something changes from the script to the page, it's all her fault!
(I kid, we love you Allison <3)
