The JERKboard Diaries Episode 3 Part 1

Sorry about the delay everyone! Our website was throwing up some very weird errors, but Miko is a Science Genius Girl and fixed things for us. So we’re back!

Welcome to The JERKboard Diaries Episode 3 (part 1)!

Looks like things are heating up a bit on the JERKboard. Everyone wants that one special photographer, and looks like someone got a bit too sassy for Skylark’s taste. But at least she’s getting a conversation started about photographers at the photoshoot!

We’ll be back next week with Chapter 2 proper. Miko posted a good explanation as to what has been going on with the updates and other behind the scenes stuff at her blog here, but the short end of it is that Allison hasn’t had as much time to work on the comic as she has in the past because of financial reasons. We’ve tried to take a little bit of the load off of her by creating these JERKboard pages for weeks she couldn’t post a page, but we know you all have been wondering what is up and we wanted you to be sure that we are not giving up on Con Season! We love this thing, we know you all are enjoying yourselves, and we have a lot more planned for it!

The absolutely spectacular news is that Allison has overcome a huge hurdle and she can spend more time with the comic! Yay!

We also have started a deviantART account here. We’ll be using it to post the comic to help spread the word, plus it’ll be an easy way to get fan art and cosplay collected in an easy to organize way. You’ll start seeing pictures from our Artist Alley booth at AWA 2012 posted there in the next few weeks, as well as some of the extra art Allison has created for the series.

Always feel free to send us your own fan art or cosplays at our Facebook page or comment here as well! This will just be another way to talk to you guys more. =3

Really sorry everyone, but I went to update tonight and we are getting a super funky error that will not allow us to upload a comic image with a blog post. Miko should have things fixed when she gets a chance to look at things on Saturday–Allison and I just don’t have the technical know-how to do it ourselves.

Aaaaaaaand we’re back! This page (finally) brought to you by Series 2 of Downton Abbey. “What’s next? Amputations in the dining room? Resuscitations in the pantry?!” Maggie Smith never disappoints, y’all.

If you’re looking for some brilliant YA fantasy to read, try Graceling, Bitterblue (sequel), and Fire (prequel) by Kristin Cashore. Evali gave them to Babyberry who gave them to me for Christmas and I’m hooked. I wasn’t sold until about halfway through Graceling when suddenly SO MANY FEELS! Fire is even better and Bitterblue is pure majesty. GO READ THEM!

The JERKboard Diaries Episode 2

Here’s The JERKboard Diaries: Episode 2! Looks like some interesting events happened at EmotiCON while Lexi was learning the ropes of cosplay. What other interesting tidbits can Skylark let slip?

Alright, I had a number of very boisterous birds remind me that Traitors & Assassins has been the cornerstone of competitive gaming for years and that just because a lot of cosplayers have started making costumes from the game does not mean that anyone cares about "T and A".

Look, whether you like it or not, a good portion of the costumes in that game show off the human body in very sexy ways. That is not the problem. The problem I foresee is the young ones catching the eye of some perverts and not knowing how to get out of a situation.

Just be mindful, that's all. Drama is all fine and good, but when people get seriously hurt it's no fun.

Hello baby birds. I wanted to comment on a recent trend I've noticed in the cosplay community recently. In particular, the series Traitors & Assassins has suddenly blown up in popularity.

While this normally wouldn't be a terrible thing, a lot of underage cosplayers are making these costumes. Since the game is all about the "T and A" of the characters, this disturbs me.

Maybe I'm a prude for thinking unsupervised kids shouldn't be running around a convention in skanky clothing? What do my baby birds think?

Take a moment from the gossip and drama of the cosplay world and wish your fellow cosplayers a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the food, family, and friends.

Hello all. Looks like the "Dynamic Duo" have shown up on MyFace recently. (What's up with needing to plaster your information all over the Internet anyways?)

These girls seem to be a one-trick pony so far--all of their costume wins revolve around that Cake Mix show and the thousands of different outfits the main characters have.

So baby birds, I have a challenge for you. Find me a photo of the Dynamic Duo cosplaying as anything BUT Cake Mix and we'll see what I can do for you.

Alright guys. The information is still a little on the tame side, but I always report what I get:

One of my birds let me in on a bit more information on Mrs. Salt. Rumor has it her first "official" convention was EmotiCON (yes, the same one with all the drama surrounding justlexi and another newbie that no one has guessed correctly yet).

She was cosplaying as some background character from Last Dream X with her husband, and even though they won some sort of award in the hall cosplay contest, my source saw them arguing with a Tegwen cosplayer sometime later. My source didn't want to get too close, but the Tegwen was not pleased that the happy couple walked away with an award without her.

Skylark here. With all the hubbub about Newbie Cosplayer vs. Less Newbie Cosplayer, I thought it would be a bit more interesting to talk more about some of the less crazy cosplayers that have come on the scene.

Mrs. Salt just recently popped up on MyFace, and it looks like she's only been cosplaying for a short time. None of my baby birds could give me any gossip that went beyond "Her first costume had uneven hems" (how scandalous guys, seriously).

So is Mrs. Salt one of the only sane cosplayers to grace us with her presence? Only time will tell, my birds. Stay here for any bits and bobs I may get... and if you have any gossip yourself, don't be afraid to spill it.
