The theme of World Food Day 2014 is Family Farming: Feeding the World, Caring for the Earth. It highlights the importance of small-holder farmers, like Ann Rose, who are working around the globe to provide healthy food to people of all incomes while caring for the environment. 

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization, family and small-scale farmers produce a whopping 56% of the world's food supply. But they don't stop there - they also play a vital role in strengthening communities. 

Sita Poudel, a farmer in Nepal, has started her own nonprofit to empower other women farmers in her village. She has created an environment that allows women to support one another and to share their agricultural knowledge with their peers.
