(King Nebuchadnezzar to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, after they refused to bow to his image): He said, âIf you do not bow, then you will burn.â They answered, âWe trust in the God we serve. If we are thrown into the furnace, our God can save us. But even if he does not, we will not waiver.â Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with them, and his attitude changed. He had the men make the furnace seven times hotter than the usual flames. The fire was so hot that it killed the soldiers holding the men, as they carried the three, clothed and bound, and threw them in. The king jumped up in amazement and exclaimed, âWerenât there three men thrown into the flames? Look! There are four men walking around. They are unharmed and unbound. âThe fourth man in the furnace looks like a son of God. Come out, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,â the king said, awed. As the crowds gathered around the men, they saw that not a hair on their heads was singed. Their clothes were not burnt, and the fire had done them no harm. There was no smell of fire and the ropes were removed from their arms. âThese men were willing to die rather than worship an idol. Praise be to their God,â the king said. âHe is faithful.â - excerpt from The Fiery Furnace, Daniel, The Bible In Poetry: Volume One: The Old Testament There are now only 10 remaining audiobooks to give away with the purchase of The Bible In Poetry: Volume One in paperback, from my website! http://www.teresaschultzauthor.com #thebibleinpoetrybook #teresaschultzauthor #freeaudiobooks #limitedquantity #BOGO #audiobookcomingsoon to #audible #itunes #10freeaudiobooksleft #thefieryfurnace #wewillnotbow #daniel #thebibleinpoetry #teresaschultzauthor
