Do you think that, if Barry ever died, Iris and Cisco would someday get together? IDK, I just get this vibe (lol) from them this episode, and you always hear about people bonding and getting together after losing someone they love.
WestVibe is alive and kicking tonight. Yes good but also sobbing
When you mentioned how Cisco has been shown to fight crime with Wally, that made me remember 4x01. For six months with Barry in the speedforce, them and Iris had the chance to develop an even stronger dynamic, so it is strange we haven't seen more Iris/Cisco scenes just based on that.
Yes! I did enjoy some of the angst they had in 4x01, but I wish they’d gotten some fun scenes too. It would be cool to see Iris helping Cisco train like she has Wally and Barry.
Yeah, it kind of bothers me how in Girls Night Out, a big thing was how Caitlin and Iris weren’t “close”...but apparently her and Felicity are? I mean, I’m not surprised they’re friends, but I cannot see them as particular close friends? I can only see them as acquaintances through Barry and Oliver, and apparently Felicity called Iris after the current shit with Oliver. Plus Felicity and Iris have nothing in common. I mean neither do Barry and Oliver, but their relationship has been established.
Yes, Felicity and Iris have such different personalities and such different interests. Their significant others are really the only thread they have in common. Canonically, they only see each other 2-3 times per year and only talk over the phone when they need the other’s help (or Felicity needs to complain about Oliver).
Iris and Caitlin see each other every single day. Caitlin is over at Iris and Barry’s loft or the West house all the time. They're constantly together outside of Star Labs, even if it’s not just the two of them. It’s a huge failure on the writers’ part that they never gave Iris and Caitlin a substantial friendship. Even if they weren’t showing it, they could have it mentioned, like how Cisco and Barry have periodically mentioned hanging out, watching Star Trek.
Oliver and Barry’s friendship works because the Arrow and The Flash writers have dedicated time to it. They’ve shown it’s development and how it relates to the individual characters’ journeys too. I wish the writers were willing to do that for the women.
I would love to see more Iris and Cisco friendship. They quip in STAR labs but that’s it. Cisco has scenes with everyone but Iris. They had time for all those Cisco/Joe scenes but no Iris SMH
Yes, I agree! Cisco is such an amazing character. I feel like the writers have done a great job establishing his friendships with all the other characters except Iris. He’s closest to Caitlin, but he talks about and is shown having fun with Barry too. He worked with Joe at CCPD a little, has some banter with the new guys like Julian and Ralph every year, always develops a connection with the Wells, and fought crime with Wally. I would really like to see him have more scenes with Iris.
Ever since 2x01 when Cisco assumes he’s Barry’s best friend but Joe is referring to Iris as Barry’s best friend, I have wanted Cisco and Iris to have an ongoing fight over who is Barry’s best friend, like Barney and Marshall on How I Met Your Mother had.
I also can’t believe we haven’t gotten a Cisco and Nora geeky scene. I loved their interaction in 4x11 and I want to see more of them talking about nerdy stuff.

"Iris and Cisco will butt heads a little bit"
Candice and Carlos confirmed at their HVFF panel today that Iris and Cisco will butt heads a little bit over whether or not it's the right decision to bring Barry out of the speed force. This isn't necessarily new information. We've known since sdcc that, through taking on the leadership role in Star Labs, Iris will try to be strong in Barry's absence, but she won't initially be on board with getting Barry out. Cisco, on the other hand, we know is in favor of trying to get Barry out. Iris and Cisco butting heads won't be a bad thing, nor do I think it will be played to make Iris look bad. It's really a clash of two people handling their grief differently. Here's my speculation on both: I don't think Cisco will be mad at Iris or think she doesn't care about Barry. He knows she's hurting more than anyone. Joe and Wally will provide more of the emotional support, but Cisco is a problem solver. A builder. The way he sees it: the problem is that the speed force is unstable and Barry went in to be the stabilizer. Cisco knows he didn't want to go; he had to. So if Cisco can build something that will stabilize the speed force, problem solved. He gets his best friend back and Iris gets her fiancé. Iris, on the other hand, sees Barry's leaving differently. We know she feels a little hurt/betrayed because Barry unilaterally made this big decision to leave without consulting her about it. And it's not like Iris doubts Cisco's ability. If anyone could make something to get Barry out, it would be Cisco. But 👏🏾what👏🏾if👏🏾Barry👏🏾doesn't👏🏾want👏🏾 to 👏🏾come👏🏾 out?! Barry went in there voluntarily. He didn't even know if he could come back, and if he had planned on coming back wouldn't he have told her this was a temporary solution? Wouldn't he have told Cisco to work on something get him out? But he didn't. So what happens if Cisco succeeds and Barry's like "nah, I'm good"? Then that would feel like Iris getting rejected a second time, losing Barry a second time, which is not something she wants to confront. She wants him back, but she wants him to want to come back, not because Cisco built him a get out of jail free card. I do think she gives into hope at the end, helps the team, and is, at first, a little disheartened/upset when Barry doesn't come out, only to finally be reunited with him at ccpd moments later.
