When a Teacher Becomes a Student
In a world that demands constant multitasking, balancing a career, family life, and personal growth can feel overwhelming. But some people take on that challenge with quiet strength and unwavering purpose. Sumaira Kamran is one of them.
A passionate educator and full-time professional, Sumaira took a bold step by enrolling in the PGCEi program at Westford College, in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). Her goal wasn’t just to earn another qualification—it was to reconnect with the core of teaching by becoming a learner herself.
Navigating through deadlines, assignments, and virtual classes—all while managing the responsibilities of work and parenting—Sumaira’s journey was far from easy. But it was this very experience that transformed her.
“When I stepped into the student’s shoes, it changed how I saw the classroom,” she reflected. “It made me more empathetic, more thoughtful—and it reignited my love for teaching.”
The PGCEi program didn’t just sharpen her academic skills; it reshaped her identity as an educator. It offered her the space to reflect, evolve, and rediscover her purpose.
Today, Sumaira stands as a proud graduate—but more importantly, as a renewed teacher with fresh energy, insight, and passion.
