The werecoyote (who is referred to as a werewolf in the movie, because they couldn't afford to get a wolf, but I'm just going to pretend that it's because nobody knows what a coyote or a wolf looks like) transforms after having a specialty altered infusion of coyote blood injected into him.
His name is Petro, (pronounced pee-tro) with no known last name. He does not know the purpose of these injections, and when he is transformed he does not remember anything except for as a terrible nightmare. He transforms within a minute of being injected, after seemingly falling unconscious or asleep.
He is intellectually disabled, and likes and trusts the evil scientist who is experimenting upon him, so he doesn't ask questions or raise any protests. Cuz they have been doing this for a while, and as far as he is aware, nothing bad has ever happened, he just falls asleep.
In his transformed state he rounds around attacking anyone he can find. He still knows how to open windows, and still seems to understand English because when confronted with a whip, he will follow orders. Each night he returns to the place he originally transformed in.
He has to receive another injection to transform back.
He awakes a minute or two later, thinking that he's been sleepwalking in a bad dream.
You can watch The Mad Monster on YouTube, or Tubi, or the internet archive once they are back up, though I do not recommend having subtitles turned on on YouTube, because they are auto generated and absolutely useless. The version on Tubi has mostly correct subtitles that are wrong and at least three spots, but not disastrously so, and the audio for the dialogue is very quiet. That might just be the same across all versions though. There's at least two instances where the whole film seems to skip a second, which is partially to blame for the incorrect subtitles.
Maybe I will attempt to separate the audio and enhance the dialogue, or at least quiet the dramatic music they are constantly playing.
I am novelizing it since the audio quality is so crap, so you'll be able to read that for free when it's done.
