Covid, we must all change
The virus has turned its mirror on us, showing us exactly who we have become and itâs not bringing the best out in us. We must all change.
We are seeing exactly what the virus really means. With the pandemic in full swing and Brexit looming, both have changed people significantly, and there is now a certain stillness in the air.
The whole Covid thing is becoming extremely stressful, primarily because  some of the decisions being made by the UK government donât make any sense and because not everyone is taking the virus seriously. Friends and relatives are still risking travelling to see loved ones.
With the UK now in its second lock down, cars should be parked up and theyâre not, instead theyâre defying the lockdown rules. While out for walks and observing life, itâs absolutely clear that life has gone back to normal for some.
Either those people have been doing it for some time in breach of lockdown rules, or they donât feel the need to wait as weâre coming out of lockdown on the 2nd December. The reality is the virus is still rising.
Whilst Covid is being handled badly by the Government and the majority of us are abiding by the rules, there are sadly too many who are still not. Independent scientists are reporting that weâre not, with the facts speaking for themselves.
In the meantime people are still falling foul of the  disease, and sadly where others are critical in hospital, worst-case  scenario many have already died.

We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.
Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis on Trump Â
We must do better in 2020
Respectfully, we must do better in 2020. We need to be more selfless, think about and put others first and protect animals more. We must want to give back.
We need to think about climate change and global warming. We must think about how we can protect our planet, so making our lives better. We must be more mindful. Think about the change you want to see in your life and in the world and work on those changes. Learn to trust and for others to trust you.
Practice being more spiritual. Practice being patient, show empathy, use compassion and be kind. Put yourself in another personâs shoes so you understand them. Come from a place of tolerance. Love unconditionally and stop being judgmental.
Think about and put your priorities in order. Donât look to change everything about yourself, instead think about how you live your life and think about what you can change about yourself. Look at your lifestyle practices and work on a healthier lifestyle, because letâs face it, we could all do better with our practices.
Learn to self-care more. For some itâs putting on a face mask, eating popcorn whilst watching their favourite movie in their pjs, for others itâs a long soak in a hot bubble bath. But self-care isnât just about pampering ourselves, itâs also about saying ânoâ to things you donât want to do, without feeling guilty: itâs concentrating on you. Itâs doing something for yourself.
Itâs about eating foods that have a positive effect on your mental wellbeing. Making a conscious effort to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Itâs about cutting down on the amount of alcohol you drink. Drinking less will help improve your mental health, it will help cut down on anxiety and improve your physical health. Think about keeping fit, or starting if you havenât started yet.
In 2019, the world lost respect for itself through peopleâs actions. In 2020 we must learn to be respectful of each other, to be respectful of another personâs opinion and for them to be respectful of ours.
