@ericnyffeler - l am super excited, flattered, and/or losing-sleep-nervous that the good people at @wemakepdx have invited me to participate in their truly inspiring SketchXchange series! I will be covering the walls of their headquarters with every scribble, scrapple, and chunk of colored paper that I've made in the last few years. There will also be a Q & A / discussion moderated by Portland design celebrity @brettpstenson, so you know I'm guaranteed to say something embarrassing once or twice. This event takes place on Friday, January 5th at 6:00pm, so hurry up and pick up a ticket, which comes with a complimentary 9" x 9" screenprint designed by yours truly! Had a great time at “26 - A Lettering Show” put on by @wemakepdx last night as part of Design Week Portland. Came away with this haul 😍 I always jump at the chance to collect art, and at $20/print I couldn’t say no. First image is “Howl at the Moon” by Brett Stenson (@brettpstenson) and “Stay Gold” by Colt Boldon (@coltbowden). Second image is a giveaway from lettering artist Jordan Metcalf’s (@jordan_metcalf) talk on Tuesday evening. Last image is one I screenprinted myself with the help of the IPRC (@iprc_pdx). Portland is so full of talent and support for artists. WeMake (@wemakepdx) is a nonprofit that supports arts education in the Portland area. Check them out!! It fills me with gratitude to see the artists from around the world who donated these prints and the staff at WeMake who work tirelessly to make these events happen. This morning, I got to teach a quick, Intro to Hand Lettering workshop for about 30 people, thanks to @wemakepdx. As an added bonus, the fine folks at @scoutbooks printed up a whole mess of sketchbooks with my image on them! My birdhouse for this years WeMake Open House Benifit aka Put A Bird In It. The event is part of Design Week Portland There are a lot of amazing birdhouses to check out. The event is April 19th at Tillamook Station. All the proceeds form the silent birdhouse auction got to benefit The Right Brain Initiative, a Portland-based arts education advocacy program supporting K-8 students. There will be lots of other fun stuff to do there too!
