I'm going to define the past year as May 2019 to May 2020. I took a break from fandom and creating for a while and only really came back in late 2019 so to pick five works I'm going to have to pull from all the fandoms I'm currently writing for. (All three of them. :D)
In no particular order, here are five of my favorite works from the past year:
1. Disruption (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) - Cabin Pressure
This is a fun Mallory/Cat story set in a baseball AU in which Cat and Mallory play on the same baseball team, managed by Carolyn. I'm still hoping to write more of this because I have more outlined in my head but these were really fun to write.
2. Final Boarding Call - Cabin Pressure
This is a Charlie/Miles drabble that I wrote during the Five Years of Zurich event. (Five years!) I really like how the drabble turned out and I'm so glad that I started writing Cabin Pressure things again for the event.
3. The Smell of FearĀ (on LiveJournal) - Merlin
Switching fandoms, this is a Gwaine/Leon Hogwarts AU that I wrote for the Camelot Drabble community on LiveJournal. This prompt was in October so I decided to go a little darker than usual and I'm really happy with the result.
4. Death Will Set You FreeĀ (on AO3)Ā - Merlin
This is another Gwaine/Leon story written for the Camelot Drabble community. (This community's weekly prompts have been a very helpful writing routine.) This is set in the canon era and, coincidentally, also a bit dire. I write happy Merlin fic too, I promise.
5. We'll Start a War Worth Fighting ForĀ (on AO3) - Daiya no Ace | Ace of Diamond
New fandom! Daiya no Ace is an anime about a high school baseball team which I've recently fallen for, and fallen hard. The first thing I wrote for this fandom is this Tetsu/Jun science fiction battle mecha AU. It sounds weird but I loved writing it and I really hope I'm able to write more.

* Red - Mattie/Leo/Hester
Itās going to seem really obvious why I chose this song. Two of the words in the opening verses areĀ āLeoās mineā. But seriously, what I get from this song is the sense of pain all three characters feel, in different capacities. Mattie because Leo seemed to prefer Hester, Hester because she just wants to hurt people just as she was hurt, and Leo because heās Leo, the walking talking brooding machine.
* Undone - Niska/Astrid
The song of someoneās love being unbreakable, their kind heart unfailing and bringing light to a personās darkness. Obviously talking about Astrid.Ā ;)
Iāll savor the light for us and that is so hard/Itās only ever mis-deciphered us/Still loved still further/Hope in her hand youāre undone/But that did not stop her sun, get her down.Ā
* Loss - Leo/Mattie
Mostly for that one scene. :)

my favorite female character: tough one because i love them all so much but iām going to go with mia
my favorite male character: my sweet boy maxie who has never done anything wrong in his whole entire life
my favorite book/season/etc: season one
my favorite episode (if its a tv show): okay every episode of this show is a certified Masterpieceā¢ but i guess if i really had to choose iād go with 2x08. itās been over a year and i still canāt get over how amazing it was.
my favorite cast member: i adore every single cast member and they all deserve way more recognition but iām handing this one to gemma. over the course of the show sheās played mia, anita, mia pretending to be anita, and mia pretending to be newly conscious, and each one of those performances are subtly different. she is delivering a masterclass in acting throughout each episode and itās incredible to watch.
my favorite ship: miaura but nistrid as a close second
a character Iād die defending: all of them?? except for joe, ed, hobb and david elster, iād die for every single one of them.
a character I just canāt sympathize with: ed. i know he was in a difficult situation financially and he just wanted to look after his mum but there is no excuse for kidnapping your girlfriend, telling her you donāt think of her as a person and attempting to sell her off to be experimented on. come on, dude.
a character I grew to love: pete! did not care about him at all when S1 began and i straight up cried by the time we got to 2x07.
