Oooh yes!! I actually probably more ‘strongly agree’ with this one! BUT I left a little room only because I do see Mace as a bit more flawed than I think most people do in the prequels fandom.

I love the guy, absolutely do not get me wrong. But I have a difficult time with by-the-book people in any context, which is probably just a result of some issues in aversion to authority in my own life, but hahahah which is funny because I actually originally did not like Obi-Wan Kenobi, for this reason. Then, I watched again, saw the light, and changed my religion to KENOBI, so all is well and we can giggle about it now.

It’s also probably worth (unfortunately) noting that I identify with a lot of parts of Anakin’s personality so that moment in the chambers (you know the one...take a seat, young Skywalker) was poignantly painful for me the first time I saw ROTS. Not because I think Mace is evil or even a little wrong in that moment, but only because I feel what Anakin is feeling. He’s too stupid in that moment to get out of his own head and understand, but I get it.

Also, the Clone Wars show several short interactions of Mace and Anakin JOKING with each other!!!! 🌻

So, all in all, YEAH!!!!! He’s not emotionless or spiteful toward Ani! Ani is just self-absorbed and melodramatic. (Love him anyway, though.) I think Mace deeply respects Anakin but correctly knows he has a lot of growing up to do. And if he occasionally hits Anakin with some reality he’s not ready for, that’s just Mace giving him a hand. (BAD PUN, I KNOW. SORRY, MACE. SORRY, PREQUELS FANDOM.)
