Weight Loss Changes #15: Being told to be more sensitive about overweight people is weird
When I was fat, I didnāt really care that I was fat. Some people were very vocal about how fat I was but there were only a few times I found it offensive. Like that time I was told I couldnāt sit at the front of the FX because itās for 2 people. I told the driver to chill and paid for 2 people instead. My feeling was hurt for about 10 seconds and I moved on. Even though I was fat, I felt pretty (although, looking at previous pictures, I kinda like myself better now to be honest). So yeah~ I just didnāt really care that I was fat.
Lately, I was told by someone to be mindful of my jokes and thatās when it hit me. āOMG, Iāve really gone to the other side.ā I felt uneasy and started thinking of all the times I may have offended somebody overweight. My brain (and current joke supply) havenāt adjusted to this new me yet.
I now know this is something I have to work on.Ā
I apologised to that person saying āIām sorry. My brain hasnāt adjusted yet.ā and showed her a picture of me from May 2015. And then she started asking all these questions about weight loss which I happily answered. It felt kinda weird. I didnāt want to push the idea of weight loss to her because, like religion, I believe it is a personal choice.
